I've noticed that quite a few people (myself included!) seem to have FL OCs who were born in August and I am curious as to whether this is a coincidence in the circles I'm in specifically or a coincidence in the fandom at large. So! My very unscientific poll

I suspect most people have fewer than 12 FL OCs – in that case if there's at least 1 who has an August birthday then it's 'at least 1/12 of my FL OCs have August birthdays'. This is probably obvious but I want to pre-empt this question so the poll doesn't spread without the answer if people Don't realise this.

So for the upcoming chapter of Reign of the Snow Queen, I tried to sit down and draw what I wanted Snow Queen to look like so I could describe her better. But I couldn't draw her without trying to get a basic description of what I wanted first. So the process that was supposed to be write -> draw -> elaborate further in writing has somehow turned into write -> draw? -> draw -> wait what about reference photos -> just draw already -> actually nvm -> ??????

I hesitated to post this for a hot minute, but ever since episode 3 dropped and Zooble got more character development I started thinking about how "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream" was one of the show's main influences and how Caine may be creating the other characters' personal hells on accident in an attempt to help them adjust and have fun. He isn't trying to be actively malevolent, but is still causing harm and can't really understand when people try to explain. It's like the opposite of the hate monologue.

Same "rules" as previous round: 1. All OCs mentioned are either implied or stated to be neurodivergent, 2. All my works have some kind of major theme or thesis because that's how my brain does storytelling, 3. Any content warnings will be put in the beginning of individual chapters, 4. I'm not good at writing anything too steamy so don't expect anything more intense than implications of sex, and 5. Most of the fics mentioned should be written at some point, but not at the same time. Some are longer than others.

Reign of the Snow Queen [currently in some sort of progress]: Set during season 1 of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers (after the Green With Evil arc), Kristin Gavriel moves from Vermont to the sunny town of Angel Grove, California. Yes, that Angel Grove, California. The one notorious for a monster attack every other week. She isn't that fazed about it because there's a more daunting problem ahead of her: being the new kid in high school. Luckily, she manages to make friends and develops a crush on previous new kid Tommy. When her new friends tell her about the school starting a charity event to fix the local playground after a recent monster attack, Kristin ends up in charge of writing and directing a stage adaptation of The Snow Queen starring her crush... and his girlfriend. But things take a turn for the even worse when a wicked space witch and some meddling monsters literally turn Kristin into the villain of her own play, unbeknownst to Kristin herself! Will Kristin discover the secret her friends are hiding from everyone? Will the power rangers stop the elusive Snow Queen from freezing the universe over? Will envy and strange magics undo the friendship Kristin wanted so badly? Will the show go on?! Find out in this (hopefully) feel-good 1990s "period piece" with potentially 20 (twenty) or more chapters! Also includes some kind of botched love pentagon.

The Red and White Saga: Rewriting this idea I meticulously plotted out and scrapped, but decided to try writing for real this time because, and I quote, "we are so back". Spanning the multiple canon (and a few non-canon) events of the Resident Evil franchise, this series follows original character Bailey Conroy as she goes from an outbreak survivor caught in the crossfires of a conspiracy as both are happening at the same time to a functional bioweapon trying her hardest to fight the good fight and come to grips with her complicated and controversial legacy. There will be gore and body horror, as is par for the franchise. And angst. And a blorbo being put into various situations over and over again. Also this will be a series, as the timeline of events is very long and complicated and probably shouldn't be consumed in one sitting. Also includes clone-sister trauma bonding, people that shouldn't be parents, people that aren't used to filling a parental role, AuDHD, realizing you're bisexual mid-rescue mission, accidentally giving your child an Electra complex, and a heaping helping of Christian symbolism/imagery/motifs. And little surprises ;)

Time in a Bottle: The least meticulously thought-out of my WIPs, a collection of short(?) scenarios following the lives of the historical characters of the American Girl franchise after the events of their stories, including some getting the chance to interact with each other in what some would consider the future. Used this as a fun opportunity now that the American Girl connected timeline was proven somewhat canon with recent books. Warning: may or may not make you cry a little

In Perfect Harmony: Leo's first surprise gift for his 25th birthday wasn't what he expected: the treasured toy conductor's baton from his childhood, with the batteries still intact as well. Annie said she found it shoved in a box hidden in the closet of his old room, alongside her purple microphone and a handmade scrapbook the pair made about their various pretend adventures with their friends. The second surprise gift was the quartet getting back together after all those years apart. The third surprise was all those adventures they assumed to be pretend being real the whole time. Rocket, having been dormant for decades since their last mission, reawakens to take the Now-Grown-Up Einsteins on a new mission with harrowing consequences: someone or something is causing music to disappear bit by bit, and it could be gone for good if they don't stop whomever or whatever's responsible. It's up to the team's memories of missions past to find the clues and answers they need. Warning: may or may not make you cry a little

So I just found out that the old packaging for a cereal that defined my childhood ended up becoming a meme

I mentioned it to my boyfriend because "I sensed an intense kindness in the gorilla's eyes" and the new packaging doesn't carry the same energy anymore

so he looked it up and went "oh my god that's the source of 'my jimmies remain unrustled'!"

And in my research, I found a meme with two other equally-kind-eyed animal cereal mascots alongside the gorilla

I almost had a panic attack at work because my work bag slipped out of my hand and landed in a way that it cracked the screen protector on my phone in a tiny area (not the screen, just the protector) and I was scared to tell my parents because I still live under the "if you break something, even on accident, it will be permanently taken away from you because it proves you don't know how to control yourself/be safe/clean up properly" rule of my childhood

My mom was understanding and said I could just buy a new screen protector if we didn't find another lying around the house, but I was still sick to my stomach at the thought of my phone, the only piece of tech I own that gives me direct communication to the people I care about, could be permanently taken away from me because I cracked the screen protector.
