What, pray tell, the fuck
My mood 90% of the time.
my favorite Millennial Thing™ is when a group of us are standing around and talking and someone asks a question that no one knows the answer to and suddenly it’s a race to get out your phone and google it and be the first to know, and then someone starts reading the Wikipedia article about the thing aloud to everyone else, and what started as a casual conversation is now A Learning Opportunity and we all walk away a little more knowledgeable about a random topic
Like, Boomers hate when we do that, but I think it’s one of the best things about us.
So long as we have internet or a cell signal, all of the world’s collective knowledge is at our fingertips, and damned if we aren’t going to use it.
My dad always get mad when I do this. He’s always like “We didn’t need to know.” That makes no sense to me. Why would that make me ignore my ability to learn something? I don’t always *need* to know but that doesn’t mean I’m going to pass up an opportunity to learn something new.
Why carry a supercomputer around in your pocket if you’re not gonna use it?
WHY EATING SEASONALLY IS IMPORTANT
•save money - food is at it’s highest supply
•food is better - it is grown closer to home so less likely to rot
•support local, sustainable farmers
•more environmentally friendly
Step one-
Take some time on your own to decide what healthy relationships and friendships are. Make a list of the things you want, and also the things you need (ex: would be nice if we had things in common, not always necessary. But I need honesty)
Step two-
Commit yourself to the standards you have for your relationship. Articulate what you will not tolerate. Promise yourself that you won’t allow specific behavior from anyone.
Step three-
Mean it.
Step four-
If a person does not adhere to your boundaries, let them know they have crossed a line. Not in a week from now, not later on when it happens again. Immediately address the disrespect, let it be known that it wasn’t ok, and say you cannot be around a person who behaves that way/treats you that way
Step five-
Mean it.
Step six-
Give the person space to demonstrate they understand your boundaries. No need to nag or continually bring up how to felt slighted. Give the person space to change their behavior.
Step seven-
If the person crosses your boundaries again, create space from them. You may or may not decide for that space to be permanently cutting them off, or just demoting them from friend to acquaintance. Do not pretend that it didn’t bother you. Do not ignore it. Do not immediately forgive them. They did not respect your boundaries, so they are not equipped to be in your life.
Step eight-
Understand that this applies to you too. If you violate somebodies boundaries, they are entitled to eliminating you from their life. Respect them enough to take yourself out of their life until they invite you back in. Don’t get mad when they don’t forgive you right away. The reason why you don’t cross boundaries is because you respect the person and value the relationship/friendship too much to ever do something that could end it. Think of your consequences before you cross the line, not after.
Stop teaching children that there is only one person out there meant for them. Let it be easier for people to let their toxic relationships go without fear of losing “The One”.
Its so fucked up and weird that we don’t tell people that there will be multiple important people in their lives
I don't think I have ever picked up a pair of tongs without clicking them together a couple of times.

I wanted to make one too-
I really went through 4 years of high school and never got assigned a fake baby to watch and take care of
my mom was talking about how she didn’t like a series of unfortunate events that much because it falls into the “adults are stupid” trope which she doesn’t think is realistic and i… really just don’t know how to explain to her that the point isn’t that adults are stupid, it’s that children don’t get listened to. some of the adults in the series are actually very smart, their problem is that even the good and decent adults in the series seem to staunchly refuse to believe the baudelaire children are just as smart as they are, or that they may know what they’re talking about, out of the sheer fact that the baudelaire children are children. it isn’t always a story of “adults are stupid, kids are smart, kids rule, adults suck,” it’s a story of “children are often mistreated or taken advantage of or at the very least condescended to, and don’t get their voices heard because adults don’t trust them enough to validate a child saying they are in an unfair or even abusive situation”

Using their Bro-ness for good, not evil
So a tiny story: on Black Friday a few weeks ago I went to Gamestop to buy my brother a game for Christmas, and I noticed this older man was watching me like a hawk. He was loitering around the front of the store without really buying anything, and every time I glanced at him out of the corner of my eye he was looking at me. I went to look at the PS4 games, and he was looking at something right behind me. I checked out the Nintendo games, and he was looking at them too. I was the only woman in the store, by the way.
By the time I got in line to pay he was loitering at the front of the store again, and I just had that feeling that he was going to try and take the game I just bought, or steal my purse, as soon as I left the store. OR, he was going to try and follow me home. And I know I don’t have to explain that terror to any woman reading this, but all I could think was that I’m in this Gamestop alone with at least twenty other men and something is about to happen. I’m beginning to freak out, to the point where I’ve just pulled my pepper spray out of my purse and into the pocket of my coat.
So there I am, next in line to pay, and there is this GIGANTIC dudebro right behind me, and I say gigantic as a 6 foot tall woman. He says, “Ma’am? Don’t be offended, but would it be alright if I walked you to your car?” and I was like “Are you serious?” and he was like “There are some weird guys in here right now. Have you noticed that guy watching you?” and then I showed the dudebro the pepper spray in my pocket and he was like “Right on. Would you still let me walk you to your car?” and I said yes.
So I paid, and waited while HE paid, and he walked me to my car. And just as I was getting in, the weird guy who’d been loitering came out of the store, saw me and my dudebro, and turned around and walked away in the opposite direction.
In short: men who recognize that women are unsafe in dark alleys, college campuses, grocery stores, gas stations and retail stores and do something about it are the kind of quality men that this world needs more of.
Please for the love of god yes.
