The other night husband and I were watching a documentary about the yeti where they were doing DNA analysis of samples of supposed yeti fur, and every one of them came back as bears.

Anyway, the next night we watched a thing about some pig man who is supposed to live in Vermont. People said it had claws and a pig nose but walked upright like a man. Now, I happen to know that sideshows used to shave bears and present them as pig men. So every piece of evidence they gave of this monster sounds to me like a bear with mange.

So now the running joke in our house is that everything is bears. Aliens? Bears. Loch Ness monster? Bear. Every cryptozoological mystery is just a very crafty bear.

Bears. They’re everywhere. Be wary. Anyone or anything could be a bear.

Reblogs in a chain now get their own notes

The reblog chain is one of the things that makes Tumblr unlike anywhere else. All the notes on reblogs are attributed to the original post, no matter which branch people actually liked or reblogged. We want to keep encouraging conversations, and give contributors the recognition they deserve. 

Soon, you'll be able to like, reblog, or reply to any part of a reblog chain, and that note will go to that reblog's author. Each reblog will have its own counts, instead of one aggregated number from every version of the post. And yes, you’ll be able to like multiple posts in one chain.

If a reblog doesn't add anything, the love flows up to the last person in the chain who did. Your post doesn't lose notes just because people spread it quietly.

Past notes will stay on the original post — we're only changing what happens from here on out. Retroactively re-attributing all of them would be... a lot.

This is just the beginning. More changes are coming as we keep building this out – stay tuned!

So I just saw a post by a random personal blog that said “don’t follow me if we never even had a conversation before” and?????? Not to be rude but literally what the fuck??????????

I’ve had people (non-pornbots) try to strike conversation out of nowhere in my DMs recently, and now I’m wondering if they were doing that because they wanted to follow me and thought they needed to interact first. I feel compelled to say, just in case, that it’s totally okay to follow this blog (or my side blog, for that matter) even if we’ve never talked before.

Also, I’m legit confused. Is this how follow culture works right now? It was worded like it’s common sense but is that really a thing?

Saw a sharp increase in my follower count after posting this. The legitimacy of it is driving me nuts so I also feel the need to say that you can follow anyone on here regardless of whether you’ve interacted with them or not. People like the above mentioned blog are exceptions. Perhaps they themselves think they aren’t and therefore will act like they aren’t, but they are, trust me.

Just follow anyone you wanna follow. The worst thing that can happen is maybe getting soft-blocked by the other person, but if they do soft-block you, then they were never that worth following in the first place.

I wanna know where people have lately gotten the audacity to leave comments on fanfics talking about how much the fanfic sucked and negatively critiquing an author's fic like it's a published book review.

It pisses me off cause I've seen authors abandoned or delete their fics because of this.

You're getting fanfics for FREE! No one asked for your opinion.

I hope y'all know as authors we get email notifications when you comment so we see EVERY comment that's been left.

And by the way, staff? The fact that this is an opt-out system and not an opt-in is shady as hell.

He's choosing his wording VERY carefully in order to save his career and try to pacify those who support Palestine without actually denouncing genocide or zionism. "I feel my thoughts and beliefs have been so far misconstrued..." babe you were yelling from ig post to ig post about being pro israel, calling Palestinians terrorists, and being a proud zionist. How has that been misconstrued?? "I only want peace and safety and security for all innocent people affected by this conflict" He makes sure to use the qualifier 'innocent' several times in the video when referring to Palestinians, victims of a genocide not a conflict. But as we know, zionists don't see Palestinians as innocent so who is he talking about? How can you expect an occupied people who have been living through apartheid and genocide for 75 years to not eventually fight back? To not understand why October 7th happened you have to be either completely uneducated about even the most basic history of Palestine and/or so deeply entrenched in propaganda and denial that it doesn't even matter if you do know about the history because you truly believe you deserve an ethnostate on a piece of land that has inhabited several diverse groups over thousands of years. It was never a land of 1 singular homogeneous group. To want it to be that, is actually insane.

Harringrove fic writers to check out in 2024 for folks new to the harringrove fandom

@hargrove-mayfields I will always recommend EJ’s writing and not just because she’s my best friend lmao. If you want beautiful, poignant harringrove with deals frankly and sensitively with topics like disability and overcoming a difficult past, you have to read EJ’s fics.

@thatgirlwithasquid Squid puts so much feelings into their writing and it really shows, their fic for the relay race in particular is just perfection.

@shieldofiron Saf is evil and will make you cry but she’s also a wickedly talented writer and someone I have nurtured many aus with. Serrated, Vecnavision and the MDS verse are iconic for a reason.

@dragonflylady77 Even the fics that Guin writes that aren’t poetry flow like poetry and they make me experience A LOT of emotions

@brightside-of-the-upsidedown Harle! Has! Such! A! Gift! And! You! Should! Read! Their! Stuff!

@heck-in-a-handbasket I literally do not have words to articulate how much I adore Heck’s writing I just read everything over and over again on a loop.

@thissortofsorcery Gabi has this wonderful skill of really understanding characters in microscopic detail and making me cry from reading her fics (especially autistic Billy)

@oopsiedaisiesbaby these fics are just fun to read, Billy and Steve’s dynamic is captured perfectly and the smut is top tier.

@writer-in-theory I still think about Grey’s fics just at random points during the day and they immediately make me smile.

@chrisbitchtree I have cried MANY times to these fics because they’re so emotive and beautiful and those are my two main weaknesses ok.

@catharrington Writing like sunshine and I mean that so genuinely.

@bigdumbbambieyes Picking a favourite Bambi fic is like trying to pick a favourite child so I’m afraid you’ll just have to read all of Bambi’s fics again. And again. And again.

@edith-moonshadow if you have a soft spot for bottom or omega Steve, this is 100% the writer to turn too. I’m pretty sure I’ve read every fic at least 5 times (and that’s me being generous to myself with my tendency to reread.)

@dacrydacrymani for anyone who has a weakness for clueless the-closet-is-glass Steve or Steve in his Scoops uniform. Slim Pickings, Sailor Omega on AO3 is particularly delicious but I would recommend all of their fics in a heartbeat.
