TIL: ACR 2.0 was totally super broken.

So, after a rousing discussion on my Discord about ACR, Romantic Standards, various mods, conflicts, you name it, we discovered that ACR's jealousy was completely and utterly broken. Romantic Standards in, or out. Just like, broken 😂

Don't believe me? Check out this otherwise vanilla folder test, in which using the "casual" interactions menu, Don Lothario can waltz up to Nina Caliente and kiss, hit on, goose, whatever he likes in front of his fiance Cassandra Goth and she does not care AT ALL, until I accidentally click the vanilla Maxis "make out" interaction at the end and she finally gets mad:

So, erm, that's not great 😂 Should probably fix that hey...

(Today I also learned that I can't upload more than 1 video per post lol, but I did film a second video using the same "casual.../romantic kiss" interaction which this time resulted in immediate jealousy).

So. Yeah.

Basically, there were 2 "casual / kiss" interactions that actually worked and triggered jealousy where appropriate, which were Casual / Kiss / Suck Face and Casual / Kiss / Dance Kiss.

The rest, ZERO response. All flirts, hugs and other kisses, broken.

So, I worked out what the differences were, and I fixed them.

** IMPORTANT: THIS IS NOT A COMPLETE ACR REPLACEMENT**

I have only included the socials that needed to be fixed. You still need the original ACR Controller Main files from either here or SimGiggleGirl's Romantic Standards compatible version here. But if you already have ACR, you will want to replace all of the socials with these versions.

And if anyone is curious, yes this totally works as intended alongside Midge's version of Romantic Standards. This mod is heavy and you've gotta read through the documentation, but here's a screenshot of my Romantic Standards files that work perfectly with ACR:

*Edit: oh yeah, I forgot to say, part of the fix involved removing a weird BHAV that checked for "Game Engine Version" so, if you're not playing with Ultimate Collection or similar (full packs), I can't 100% guarantee this will work for you.

You know what nobody did? Ask me.

I mean, logistically speaking, I am aware that as the missing person, it is hard to simply ask. Still, one would expect that you should have given it a try. It has been five years after all and meanwhile I have been aware of everything that’s happening around me.

So. How about we put down our tinfoil hats and you let me do the talking? I know, after five years, there might not be that much interest – but I’ll be nice.

I’ll include all kinds of stories, or else this would count as bragging about myself. I am a missing person after all. Thus, I will probably not even be seen. Let at least my voice be heard. Write down what I have to say.

Oh.

And make sure the pages are scarlet. Red is my favorite color after all.

These jeans go aaaaalllll the way up! The low rise waist on AF pants might be the single most 2004 thing about TS2. Thanks to @paluding and his Tattooer, we can go way, way above that now. I've converted some high waisted leggings before, but jeans are a bit trickier. Skinnies are easy, but what about other cuts? It took a little thinking, but I figured it out. I turned legs into pants! MWAHAHAHA!

Mad scientist laugh aside, that's exactly what I did. I took the naked legs and reshaped them to be pants. Bonus, this means they're quite low poly. The flats versions are 768 polys and the boots ones are 1206 polys. There's a little clipping on the bootcut with boots while walking, which I might try to fix someday.

I know I usually put a download link near the top of big posts, but there's stuff to read first.

The textures are Tattooer'ed edits of @madameriasims4's Dani Denims. They come in 35 colors, two rises, three cuts, and two shoe options. It's...a lot. AF only, with all morphs. Flats are set as Everyday and boots are set as Everyday and Outerwear. The skinnies with flats are on @chalkmetal's pantsless flats mesh. My unwedgie edit is included. Since they're Tattooer'ed, both rises use the same mesh for each style. All of that variety, only five meshes. Nice!

Like all Tattooer'ed high waist bottoms, these will look weird with some tops. Read more about that here.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This set is extensively repo'ed to reduce file size. The jeans and flats textures for both rises are repo'ed to the Ambush skinnies. The boot textures are in a separate TXTR package, called TXTR_kalux_antkapixi_AMBboots. If you already have this from the boots with leggings, you can delete one copy. There is no standalone version, because it would be ENORMOUS.

Because I used @picknmixsims' Repo Wizard, all of the high waist options will appear together, by color, and all of the mid rise options do the same.

The boots are my edit of @antka's 3t2 @pixicat Ambush boots. Boots are available with skinny and bootcut only.

The three cuts are skinny (ankle length), bootcut, and straight. They're shown here in the high waist rise. (First two models are fat, third is fit.)

The two rises are mid rise (MR) and high waist (HW). The difference is most obvious from the back, where you can see one diagonal seam on the MR and two on HW. HW is way above the navel and MR sits right at the navel.

They come in 35 absolutely gorgeous colors, from @sforzcc's Old Money palette. Boot swatch is here.

Veronaville. I think what little we see of Veronaville is not actually Veronaville in itself but just a small, isolated portion of it, consisting of the three families and their own microcosmos. As a child, Veronaville was my favourite neighbourhood given the dual structure around the river and the huge amount of teenagers because that was my favourite life stage.

I thus tried to create the hint of more of Veronaville in the distance, imagining that the in-game neighborhood is actually guarded behind iron fences. A lot of gossip here is actually spread verbally which might lead to a lot more confusion in the long run. Paired with a group of very stubborn elders, the topic of barriers to be overcome thus repeats in multiple areas.

I like the idea of the Monty's owning a ranch, as written in Patrizio's bio, and figured the Capps are probably in the wine business. I proceeded to look into how the wine business functions and decided that yes, I am definitely correct. In general, there is a lot of land owned and land rented which makes my heart sing. The mixture of rural charm and broken promises just has its own romance to it.

The fae-aspect when it comes to Veronaville is something I love to watch but I myself am not very good at. I like the idea of part of the entanglements between the teens being the result of magic but, if that is the case, does that not make everything kind of cruel...? Can love born from a spell truly be called love?

Strangetown.

I love what people do with Strangetown but I also love the thought of it being slightly abandoned with many empty buildings filling the street. Nowadays, many people come to Strangetown to work and leave straight home to Downtown or other areas afterswards. There is something...odd about a former-technological-hub turned ghost town, with most of all chemisists, autmobile creators, doctors and ghost hunters taking interest in permanent residence.

Most of all, I think it has a stronger military presence, so I tried to place a military base closer to the Grunt's home. There is a hint of romanticised bleakness when one looks at Strangetown's almost empty streets, an odd dance between never being able to leave and yet hoping that maybe there is specifically a reason why one is trapped in this charming hellhole that manages to somewhat still freeze over in winter.

Empty buildings leave room for people, after all. I do not think that Strangetown is thus a town that judges (unless you are in the military), but more welcoming to all of those who have Nowhere else to go. And then suddenly it is no longer just dark and abandoned, a town of failures and anxiety. Suddenly Strangetown turns into a place of untapped potential.

I also do not necessarily think there is a mayor of Strangetown but that the town has since then been absorbed by another, biggert desert town, so once elections are in order, you get weird flyers and keep asking yourself who the person depicted is, only for your grandfather to go "Oh, we should vote for him, his father used to be a barkeeper here, what a nice guy :D"

Pleasantview.

I think part of why I like setting Pleasantview into autumn is because it reminds me a little bit of Stars Hollow - I'd imagine Pleasantview to be a bigger-end smalltown where once you hit the shopping district, you can simply walk. Business is happening but it's all very contained, almost like a bubble in itself, which gives it not the most modern exterior but instead something just slightly dated. That might also be why I like the condo area so much which does not fit that much into the otherwise warm neutrals, yellows and browns - it is something that has grown out of necessity and in order to quickly make room for newer residents. Now, yes, we have the Caliente sisters and Don, but aside from that, the new condos remain empty.

It's the kind of town you, as someone born there, are expected to return to, while those who newly move there are a little bit frowned upon if they really are made for that pleasant life.

Local-politics wise I think part of why the Goths are the richest people there is not just them being old money but the thought that maybe it was not just the Goth Villa that burned down but quite a few parts of town. While the Goths helped Pleasantview get back onto its feet, that comes with a bit more influence that tastes...only a little bit bitter on the tongue.

We are still trying to find an optimal solution uniting quality and affordability, and that requires looooots of testing.

Our plan is to sell physical copies at non-profit aka production & shipment price, and per request to avoid out-of-pocket expenses by printing stock without knowing if it would sell entirely. We hope to be able to fulfill printing requests soon and will be sure to update you about that.
