Tears on the Balcony - 522k, first in a series, romance/humor, rated M
“Lily & James have hated each other ever since their initial meeting took a wrong turn. After a shocking goodbye at the end of their 6th year, are things going to be any different in the following year when they are forced to work together as Head Boy and Head Girl?” note: occasionally there is angst for the sake of angst, but the story is good enough and well-written enough that it compensates for it, in my opinion. Part 2 is also 500k+. It’s also one of the first J/L fics I ever read; note the publish/update dates :))

A Few Detentions and a Story - 161k, complete, romance/humor, rated T
“James Potter and Lily Evans are both seventh years at Hogwarts. They’re about to have an interesting year, complete with detentions, pranks, confusion, and laughter, in which they get through school, make some trouble and maybe sort out their feelings.” note: one of the first J/L fics I ever read. It’s so old! Completed in 2007!
Sunshine In My Eyes - 92k, romance/angst, AU, complete, rated M
“Mr. and Mrs. Evans are killed when Lily’s only a girl, and she’s supposed to go to a home with her sister. Instead, a relative they didn’t know they had comes to collect them, and introduces Lily to manners, magic, and a life that’s just the slightest bit different from the life she was supposed to live. Or, an AU in which Minerva McGonagall raises Lily.” note: I haven’t read this yet but I very much trust this author (despite it being an AU, which usually isn’t my jam when it comes to J/L fics)
