Jack has a tough job (disabling a bomb on a bus)

Jack also has to deal with distressed passengers, explosives, his friend dying and romancing Sandra Bulluck.

But at the end, Jack seems like a normal and nice surfer dude guy?

We never find out much about Jack, other than, yes, he is good at his job, he would like a girlfriend, and wants to stop bad guys.

Which, honestly, is better than a lot of characters I've seen.

The original idea was Jack was meant to every cliche film cop. Drunk, problems with women, brooding, etc,

He turned out not to be.

That is interesting.

Jack: “No, he just wants money.”

Gotta respect the deadpan here.
