I actually quite like her designs from the pilot and the series, so I think this doesn't feel as different from the original sources. I don't have many complaints on her original design except for the excessive use of red on all her clothes, but that's something that a lot of Hazbin characters have in common, so it's manageable. I wanted to bring back her black pupils and black pants, and I really love how that worked out hsjsj
I read once that Charlie was supposed to be based on a porcelain doll, and that never quite left my mind, though if I heard that from the creator or somewhere on the Internet I don't remember lol. So I added some separations to her limbs, like an articulated porcelain doll! (I want to draw her interacting with Velvette one day, I REALLY like the idea of a porcelain doll and a mannequin/plastic doll together, sounds fun)
"Hey so, why doesn't she have certain ASSETS?" 🤫 Shh ignore that, I'm not planning on drawing more... suggestive? Art of her, so I haven't given much thought to it... Yet.
ANYWAYS, I also HAD to add more goat-like features, I've always liked drawing her with goat ears and horns, after all.
Her hair is pretty similar to the one in the series, I kept the fluff, gave it a spiral at the end when it's tied up, and several spirals when it's loose because I based it on some ceramic angel figurines that always have this sort of hair that looks extremely soft. Also because it reminds me a bit of lambs' fur, and I feel that makes her look more approachable and trustworthy.
I don't quite picture her as a wolf in sheep's clothing, but since she's technically the Antichrist, I think it would be interesting to give her something that makes her look like a lamb, an animal representative of Christ; when in reality she's a goat, an animal more associated with the devil.
I gave her a red vest as the kind of uniform she'd wear at the hotel. Credits to my friend @danboo for helping me with her design! You're a genius, man 🥹🥹 ilysm
I'm still thinking about how to design her full demon form. Her horns would definitely grow like in canon, and I want her appearance to change into something similar to those classic images of demonic goats. But I still have to make another sheet for her demon form 😅

Another thing I wanted to add, which isn't that much about my design but more about my preferences on how the characters should be, is that I don't imagine Charlie as someone stupid or that gullible. She's supposed to be a 200-300 year old demon who grew up surrounded by royalty in Hell, like, come on. I don't believe that, at her age, she would barely know how to use her powers. Her parents are the most powerful beings in Hell, and her uncles are the Sins, dude, it wouldn't make sense to live that long and not learn magic.
I imagine Charlie as someone who has complete knowledge of her powers and their level (she's supposedly the third strongest demon in Hell, bruh), but she still chooses not to use her strength against others. I think it'd make more sense if she was some kind of gentle giant in terms of powers, knowing how powerful she is but deciding to be friendly and fair instead.
Still, she'd be a bit of a mess in social situations involving sinners, since she grew up sheltered and never experienced being human herself. I expect her to know how to put a facade in events with other royals, but when it comes to sinners she wouldn't exactly know how to treat humans, that's her Achilles heel.
So it would because of her lack of experience with sinners that she accepts Alastor's help when they meet, with his charm and experience managing crowds and fellow sinners. That guy has a lot of influence as well, plus he knows his stuff and how to network, even if it's in the old fashioned way.
I'll end up making an AU with all this stuff I have in mind HSHDJS 😭
When I start making content for this AU with lore and all I'll probably use a specific hashtag for it, so far everything I've done has been (ayee) ship art or illustrations without any lore includes, I'd like to do that as well ❤️🩹

Okay, the Romy discord server are bad influences, so posting this here too.
We need to talk about Rogue not actually understanding love or what healthy relationships look like at all.
My personal reading of it has always been that she wasn't enthusiastic about the kiss with Cody and her powers activated as a result of unwanted touch.
Then she's taken in by Mystique and that's where her idea of 'love' really gets fucked up, because Mystique is an abuser, but Rogue doesn't understand that (as many abused kids don't). Mystique treats her as an object or pet. She has a purpose as a weapon but not beyond that, and Mystique only cares about her insofar as she fulfills that role.
So she has a horribly skewed idea of what loving someone is. Follow that with the only other touch she gets (from someone who 'can' touch her) being abusive ie ||Erik's grooming/rape|| then the permanent power switch on makes sense.
That's why her 'relationship' with Remy is so complicated for her because she doesn't see him as loving her the way she *understands* love to be. Mystique would've told her, given her no option, forced her. And she wouldn't be an active part of the relationship but furniture. Except Remy loves her for who she is. He fell in love with her when she can't touch, so he's not waiting for some imaginary/future version of her w control, he's just waiting for her to be *ready*. But no one's ever cared about that before. They just made her.
So when Remy doesn't force her, doesn't cross the line, respects her, when he doesn't lash out at her in Genosha (he's upset, but then accepts it, and even says he'll still be there for her) she doesn't understand. Bc in her mind by accepting and supporting he's failing a test, bc he doesn't force her or fight her choices the way she's been taught is 'love'.
When she's reunited with Magneto she regresses from her recovery with the X men to victim again (as is normal)
All that time she was waiting for Remy to declare them official without waiting for her. But he wants her to be actively happy and choosing them
rogue will always be The Character for me. i feel the same way about her i felt about ariel when i was three years old. no one will ever compare, i will never see myself as clearly in another fictional character the way i see myself in rogue.
