The "Lost Boys" in MIEDZYLESIE, Poland.

Ran into these two when heading the wrong direction on the train from Wroclaw to Prague. With time to kill, they shared their views on politics, philosophy and adventure. It was a pleasure to kill time in their company.

DZiECi BALUT 2 - MURALE PAMIECI (Memorial Murals of the Children of the Ghetto in Baluty, Lodz)

This past summer I toured Lodz, Poland by bicycling around the city (arguably the most fantastic way to travel inner-city) to observe the Dzieci Balut 2- Murale Pamieci (Memorial murals of children of the former ghetto in the Baiuty district of Lodz).

Throughout the city, and in some of the most unsuspecting places, there are murals of small children on the sides of concrete buildings. The small children represent the children of the ghetto in Lodz during the Nazi occupation in WWII. I will never forget this experience as we rode through the city and I watched the faces and postures of the children on the sides of those buildings.

Totally awe-inspiring murals on the exterior of concrete buildings in Lodz, Poland. The contrast between old and new in this city is remarkable. Reconstructed and refurbished buildings adjacent to rundown and nearly condemned remnants of a past that is still all too familiar to the people of Lodz.

Random Central Park mornings are no stranger to beautiful sights. Giving Goobs his due competition on the cuteness scale, this ballerina - who's grace was a sharp contrast from the backdrop where she posed - was kind enough to let me take some shots of her. My muse for the day.
