concept: living in an apartment in a foreign city. the smell of the bakery down the street comes in through the open window and sunlight warms your back while you lay in bed with a cup of tea on the nightstand and your pet sleeping at your feet. in the next room is all the books you could ever read, but a few of your favorites are still scattered around your bedroom because you’re in the middle of reading them all again. music plays faintly. you are relaxed, happy, and the only thing you have to worry about is what you want to make for breakfast.

I am so on board with 2018 being the year we switch from self deprication to self love. I’m not saying you can’t use self depreciating humor to deal with stuff, but I would challenge you to really cut back on how much you talk about yourself in really negative ways. Because if you only ever talk about yourself as worthless garbage, that’s absolutely how you’re going to feel about yourself, and it’s really going to get in the way of your personal growth and developing a more health self image. Start small, start slow, but try to be kinder to yourself in the new year. Celebrate your little victories, forgive your setbacks, remember that you have worth and deserve happiness and love. You are not garbage.

so it’s going to be a new year. to be honest, this is maybe the first year where i made something even close to new years resolutions, even if it isn’t set in stone, or written down at all. i like to think that was because of you, the studyblr community i met this year. i know that sometimes the focus on the “aesthetic” part of studying and school is toxic, but this year, at least for me, it has enhanced my productivity. and for next year, my “resolutions” are mostly based on a lot of the things online that have inspired me, and things i never would have noticed before i joined this community. thank you all for expanding my horizons, thank you all for being the kind, caring, and attentive souls you are. happy 2018❤️
little goals for the new year
“one day or day one?” start learning a new language and try to stick with it. better to do less regularly than big study sessions once per week!
buy yourself an art notebook and fill it during the year with doodles and drawings
meet with old friends and acquaintances who might become friends
keep a journal and regularly write about your day
appreciate the little things in life: the snow lying outside, the scent of flowers, the little smiles on people’s faces
make it a habit to start your assignment as soon as you get it; it saves you from so much stress!!
more cozy study dates in cafes
don’t buy too many books while still having to read all the ones you bought last time, otherwise, you’ll be overwhelmed soon enough
reach out to people online and make more friends, a lot of people on here are extremely nice and welcoming!!
look at the sky more often
don’t dwell on the past too much, what’s done is done, try to grow from it
buy more little things that make you happy, such as candles, bath bombs or stationery
go for a walk at least once a week, especially if you live in the city
accept that it’s okay to ask for help, in school and in personal matters!!
oh gosh…. love thissss
