(just in case, okay?) and a lot of text Out of millions and billions of slug siblings (no gender can be applied, though this is Climber A) they (OC) were hatched undeveloped from the very start. Imagine your average friendly-looking grub: it's beautiful, squishy, meaty and soggy. And they were born raisin, without additional limbs and always hungry. Always. In my imagination larva state of any grub will 'evolve' into something more humanoid with time to transform into something entirely else. I tried to portray the difference between average grub and them: no additional pair of limbs, famished and elongated in comparison. The tail is just gone. Hunger made them eat it, bite by bite until nothing remains. About the skin choices: streaked (for sacrificing a grub to Rho) and rebmilC (for reaching Lost Pier). Well, I have no explanation for "rebmilC", honestly- it looks cool, okay? kinda edgy, kinda cursed theme going on here. But for "streaked" the reason is very simple: they wanted to be like others which leads them to unstable state and they sacrificed another grub. And reason how or why they ended up in facility? Flows over from skin explanation: they got kicked out of whatever world Mother and grubs initially are from because they committed a war crime, the greatest sin, basically :D
