Co Sleeping.
This is how Boston and I co sleep and I wake up next to her little smile everyday. I don't sleep in her space and she doesn't sleep in ours, we converted her cot to a co sleeper instead of buying one saved more than a few hundred dollars and the hassle of transitioning from a co sleeper to a cot later. When her sleep regression/ training is finished, we just re attach the missing rail and put her cot back against the wall in our room. She is still swaddled and tucked in so there's no hazard of her rolling and getting squished. I really wish I had just done this from the start and didn't bother with bassinets or rockers, her sleeping has improved incredibly since moving to this structure now only slightly arousing once between 3:30-4:30am instead of every two hours, not to mention it would have made breast feeding at night/ sleep training/ life so much easier.
Avocado Nachos
Ingredients (serves 4)
Corn chips
1 Tin of corn - Large
3-4 large tomatos- Diced.
1 large Avocado
Coriander - as desired, i like lots.
200g of diced bacon
Cheese
Method
In a bowl mix corn, tomatoes, avocado and coriander and season with salt if you wish. Add diced bacon to fry pan and cook as desired then add straight to the bowl of salsa, mix and set aside. I make separate bowls for my partner and i as he likes more cheese than I do, but if you are making one dish, layer corn chips and salsa with cheese as desired then bake for 5-10 minutes ( 2-3 minutes in the microwave for individual bowls) *Make it vegan friendly by swapping the bacon for red onion and a bit of lime juice.
What a interesting and informative piece on potty training refusal and resistance.
Today we sat down for our first proper attempt at solids. Boston and I shared some vegemite toast and lots of giggles she loved it and my heart web kaboom.

Vege Torte & Honey Mustard Cheese Sauce
Personally I really enjoyed this, my partner was unsure about the concept until he put it in his mouth. It’s basically layered roast vegetables and it’s delish. Its also a really easy way to introduce meat free meals to the family, and can very simply be made vegan. Below is the recipe to how I made it but you can add what ever veggies suit you.
Vege Torte Ingredients
Sweet potato. Cauliflower. Mushroom. Pumpkin. Baby Spinach. Cheese
Method
Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Line 12” spring tin with alfoil and spray with oil. Thinly slice all your veggies and layer them one by one sprinkling with cheese* between each layer, starting with sweet potato, cauliflower, pumpkin, baby spinach, mushroom and finishing with more sweet potato baby spinach and cheese*. Bake for 40-60 minutes.
Hints; *skip the cheese for a vegan option, nuke veggies one by one in the microwave for 5 minutes to minamize cooking time and bake for 20mins
Honey Mustard Cheese Sauce
1 cup of flour. 2 cups of milk. 1tbs honey mustard sauce. handful of cheese
Method
Heat milk over medium heat, add flour gradually, as sauce thickens add honey mustard and cheese to taste. Don’t allow to boil.
Serve over torte.
This is Boston
Boston Anna-Bella.
I was scheduled to be admitted to hospital Monday the 24th of March to induce labour Tuesday morning as I was about to hit the 10 day over due mark. Instead my waters broke naturally Sunday morning at 3am but my contractions were too far apart so the hospital asked me to get some rest and come in a few hours unless things changed.
Things didn’t.
I spent all night in false labour with on and off contractions, then was admitted to hospital at 8am where I was hooked up to Syntocinon a synthetic form of the natural hormone oxytocin, which my body wasn’t producing to kick start labour. Due to the nature of the synthetic hormone a common side effect is sever pain when producing contractions I was also given an epidural, which surprisingly enough was completed in minutes and went smoothly. After 24 hours of induced labour, being awoken every 45 minutes for touch exams, constant throwing up, being rolled over, multiple internal exams I was only 7cm dilated, not enough to give birth. I was way over the 30 hour mark since my waters had broken which was going to increase the risk of infection to Boston and I could no longer be given any more syntocinon because it was causing my uterus to become hyper-stimulated increasing the intensity of the contractions to the point my uterus would go in to distress causing Boston’s heart rate to drop with each contraction, she was then in need of her heart being monitored so precisely that my doctors inserted/ attached a scalp monitor to watch her heart beat, they also performed multiple blood tests to ensure there was no further damage being done which came back as a pass, with this and her now being monitored I was left for another four hours to see if I would dilate any further naturally.
I didn’t.
Not a single centimeter in another four hours and with all options to further induce exhausted the doctors disappeared to discuss the best course of action moving forward, on coming back my doctor explained to me there was nothing further that they could do to encourage a natural V birth with out applying further distress on my baby along with the risks if I continue to wait it out naturally to be fully dilated and then advised she would encourage an emergency c section.
I wasn’t going to argue.
Within the next 30 minutes I was stripped of all CTG wires and drip tubes, moved to the operating theatre and prepped for surgery. It took longer to prep me for the procedure than it did to actually perform it, within minutes I heard my baby for the first time and she was put in to my arms while I was being stitched up. She was then moved to neonatal and I was put in recovery so we could both be carefully monitored, understandably so after the last 35 hours we had just had.
She hasn’t left my side since.
