We finally got homework! And today J asked me about the special word 'the'. And, mentioned how it's different because we can't sound it out, he didn't really understand why. How did everyone's first day at school go? Ours was emotional. Such a big step for all of us. I ugly cried. But my little guy had the most amazing day and was so ready to start this new chapter in his life. Our last day as the trio before school next week. We were busy tweaking our alter-egos so we could be superheroes and no-one would know. I think J would be speed demon (he sounds like a bad guy 😂 but he's zoom everywhere), B would be Doodler(saving the day one drawing at a time) and I'd be The Stitcher(I'd want to be something cooler like Superwoman though). J has been away for almost a week on holiday with the grandparents. It's been so lonely without him and truly a very difficult week. We spent a week away from each other last month, but that felt vastly different... I was away...but this time HE was and I was home. And, without his laughter, love and mess I felt lost. Completely and utterly lost. The house was too quiet. There was no little one to put to bed and sing our song to. Yes, he drives me nuts sometimes, but he also showers me with love and compassion and I've missed it all including the crazy moments where I'm being driven up the wall. Today, he surprised me by coming to pick me up from work. I loved seeing that smile as he came in the door... A huge moment for me when J gave me my belated Mother's Day card that he made at nursery. He never makes anything! When I opened it up I burst out laughing. You forget how their little minds take things in and I always wonder what he's thinking. Now I know how he sees me and I just can't stop smiling. It's nice to know our kids also treasure our passions and view them as part of who we are. Because they are. It's not just work.
