edit: huh i didn't expect this to get more than like 3 reblogs. should i write up how i found/developed/boiled down these reminders?
edit 2: ok here's the process
tbh i would not recommend anyone use this one as i made it specifically for myself, it contains a lot of unexplained references, and i totally discounted a lot of other tips bc they were not super applicable to me while they might be to you.
i would recommend making a fully personalized set of reminders yourself. here's how:
1. think constantly about unmasking, have no idea how to do so because you don't know who you are unmasked, and come across basically no tangible, executable advice on the matter
2. watch this video and this video
3. while you watch them, pause at every item, write it down, and write down your initial thoughts on whether you feel like it applies to you, how so, and whether you feel like it's worth doing something about. the videos covers a lot, which is overwhelming but ultimately a good thing. there's something for everyone but there is also perspective to be gained from the things that don't resonate with you. but i'll let you have those epiphanies urself.
4. write any other things you think of that are not in the videos as you go. anything you think of. even if it feels like bullshit. or embarrassing. or childish. write it down.
5. once you take notes, you will find that many of the video items do not resonate with you. cover them up in some way. but do not discard them.
6. now you have eliminated the chaff and you are left with the wheat. it is likely that many of your wheat items will be basically the same thing phrased in slightly different ways. identify those. start a document. now you will make your own list. write down the items that do not overlap with others. combine the ones that are saying the same thing into one summarized item. add the thoughts of your own from earlier, summarize if needed.
7. forget about this project for several months
8. return to it and review the items you initially discounted. find that your perspective has shifted somewhat over time and one or two of these actually does have merit for you. add them to your list.
9. look at your list. you now need to categorize them somehow. experiment with different groupings of item. see how they seem to fit together. i initially tried situation based: at home/at work/out but didn't feel that many of my items were limited to just one. the categories seen in the graphic ended up working for me. you may find something else that will work for you.
10. [optional] after you have categorized, turn every item into the most succinct phrase that you possibly can. ex. on paper, i had 'kill the imaginary audience: rotate blorbos/stop, where are your hands.' i know exactly what this means. nobody needs to understand it but you.
11. decide how you want to arrange it. could be just notes on a page, could be notes with mini doodles, could be a full graphic. mine went through all those stages.
they are sexually mature at ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY YEARS OLD.
their (live!) young gestate for. wait for it. eight to eighteen (??) YEARS. can have up to 10 at a time. good grief.
longest lifespan of any vertebrate, up to five hundred years
toxic flesh
has giant eyes but is usually blind because of a weird little crustacean that's evolved to live on and eat their eyes. this doesn't seem to bother them much.
lives in deep cold water and has the lowest swim speed and tail-beat frequency for its size across all fish species. just generally lives life in extreme slow motion
largest genome of any shark
eats everything including moose and polar bears
ma'am you are delightfully strange and I'm privileged to share a planet with you
For all its faults Tumblr has truly ruined all other social media for me because my friends all have Instagram and are all trying to get me on Instagram more but every time I open Instagram there are like fifteen things screaming for my attention and when I get over myself long enough to start scrolling it's like. Where is my chronological dash. Where is the following-only option. Who are these people. Why are there so many videos. Everyone is screaming at me. And then before I know it I'm thirty minutes into scrolling and I haven't seen a single thing that I actually care about. At least on Tumblr when I see stuff I don't care about I know someone I follow has found a new interest.
I was trying to get a photo of all of my baby crested geckos on my hand and I managed to get very lucky with my timing, this is quite possibly the funniest photo I’ve ever taken.
