I haven't touched this blog in 4 years...

In case anyone still follows me and wonders where I went, I'll give an explanation, because I personally hate it when blogs die randomly unresolved (it makes me sad)

I still do social media, but now it's under my own legal name. Any post idea goes under accounts with my legal name, so I don't use anonymous accounts anymore. I also don't want to connect this account to my legal name. I slowly stopped using Tumblr because I was focusing on these other accounts.

If anyone wonders where I am now, I've been trying to make a career (Yes, the C word, because I'm all grown up now) in the fiction industry, and for the past 3 years, I've been making my own indie show! Unfortunately, I can't disclose what it is since it's under my real name, but know that I have high hopes and I'm happy doing this!

I still look back on this blog and this time of my life fondly.

Thank you to everyone who was part of this experience with me!

This wof-specific blog was my favorite one. Though I'm not as interested in the series anymore, I loved the sense of community that everyone here has shown me.

If some of you still remember the Orca fanfic I was making: I left it almost finished before not touching it for years, and even if I'm not a part of the fandom anymore, I'll still probably finish and post it to this blog sometime, because I can't imagine myself working that hard on a story and not publishing it.

In fact, this fandom was what made me want to do storytelling as a career! I vividly remember how, on the third day of writing that Orca fanfic, I realized, "Oh, I understand now. This is what I want to do for the rest of my life."

I’M AT MY LIMIT

think about orca being coral's first daughter and presumably the only female in her hatching (and of course coral would have no reason to worry about having more eggs at that point in her life). think about orca growing up for seven years as the only seawing princess. think about her growing up just her and her brothers but always being apart from them because all of them knew that she was different, she was the one who was going to kill their mother one day, it was all but prophesied and everyone knew it. think about orca deciding to hide her powers because she didn't want to be seen as even more of a time bomb. think about her never being able to choose if her life was going to be peaceful because it seemed like the universe was constantly announcing you you you, it's going to be you that's different and you might as well accept it now because there's nothing you can do to change your destiny. think about orca hiding behind her art and being the perfect princess but then as she gets older she sees more and more of the sea kingdom, sees more and more of how it's not the paradise she thought it was. That her mother isn't completely the benevolent ruler she claims to be. think about orca wondering if she was born for this reason, to give the seawings a new leader. think about orca knowing that with her magic, the tribe wouldn't have to be in this war. think about how royal daughters have had these thoughts about their royal mothers for as long as there have been tribes and queens. think about tourmaline and scarlet. think about orca being terrified that blister might find out about her power, with those dangerously suspicious eyes peering into every cove of the ocean. think about orca not wanting her magic used for another dragon's rise to glory and power and a throne. how her magic belonged to her and no one else could take it away from her. how she had to be strategic about this because she was working alone and everything would be over forever if anyone found out. think about orca having no true allies for her whole life, because when it came down to it, she was a living threat to their queen with a deadly secret of her own. think about orca knowing that if she becomes queen, her dragonets might inherit the animus gene too. that she herself might end up being challenged by the time her own daughters turned seven. that her hold over the kingdom and her own control might be more at risk than she thought. think about orca enchanting the statue all the while telling herself it's only a precaution, she might not even have any daughters for a while. (think about her knowing deep down that as a queen she needs to be responsible and look like she's leaving heirs). (think about her knowing that with her power she might never NEED heirs). think about orca never wanting to be vulnerable again, never wanting her own death hanging over her like the way coral's death has hung over orca's life. so she plans the statue. think about orca wanting the chance to live, to use her powers, to escape the eyes all around her, to finally have control. think about orca challenging coral and not using her magic at first because she's still a dragonet and some part of her was assuming her mother would go easy on her. think about how the same mother who read her stories and gifted her pearls on her hatching day, was now literally trying to kill her and not holding back. think about how right at that moment orca saw the naked truth: that both of them crave the power of being queen and will do anything to keep it. think about orca being too shaken up to recall the spells she'd practiced. think about coral's narwhal horn piercing orca through the side and it all being over. the suspense that has been building her whole life bleeding out onto the throne room floor. think about orca realizing what she's done and summoning her last fragments of strength to form her last words.

1. I keep seeing headcanons of these characters as lgbtqphobic. It really doesn’t make sense because Tui Sutherland confirmed there is no homophobia in this universe, so it seems as if these headcanons are making Wings of Fire less friendly to lgbtq people.
