It’s been a while.

Hi everyone. Wouldn’t be surprised if most of you seeing this have forgotten what this account is. lol. 

There’s been a lot of things going on for me the past few months. I don’t really feel like going into too many details, but I’ve gotten a new job and I’ve moved back and forth twice. So my energy to role-play has been minimal to non-existent. I’ve also gotten into a YT community and helped a content creator with his discord. So, yeah, and my job often gives me 8-9 hour days. Trust me, I haven’t forgotten this blog. Just with everything that had been going on, I’ve had a bit of dry spell when it comes to role-playing. 

I might try to come back a bit now that my job schedule has seemingly been getting lighter. If you recognize my account, you’re a real one. <3

My friend Ky (@talkaboutpathetic) asked me to draw this as a gift for her RP partners @thepokemonmulti, @musesbygeoff and @jaggedpass. :> Paul, Reggie and Shamus vs. Brandon and his Regis!

This one was quite the challenge not only because of the number of characters, but because of the special effects. It was fun figuring out how to illustrate the Pokémon’s attacks and how to make the lighting work (because look at all those light sources!!).

The truth was, he didn’t wanna be here. Not yet anyway, and not like this. Nonetheless, Reiji (and, well… Syphoria) were unavailable; and because he had been there for his older brother, and Reiji had been there for him, Paul was following along in the tradition of being there for his younger brother in possibly one of the biggest battles of his life:

Today, Shamus was going to challenge Brandon. And Paul would be damned if he left his younger brother to endure that loud bastard’s self-righteous yelling all on his own.

Though, as they were greeted at the doors of the Battle Pyramid, and Paul immediately stuffed his pockets into his hands, he couldn’t help but muse that he likely wasn’t even needed here. Because, when he really took the time to consider things, Shamus was in many ways the strongest and most emotionally stable of the three of them. Sure, he had his… issues, but Paul liked to think that they were objectively easier behaviors to fix, as they were just that – behaviors – not a constant onslaught of self-hatred or self-doubt that liked to dick around in his head for no good reason.

“…”

Paul looked to his brother, internally forcing his brain to change the subject to the more positive sides of things: he was here to spend time with his brother. To,.. you know, see how well he had grown. Despite his temptation to mess with Shamus’ hair, he keeps his itchy fingers firmly in his pockets. “So. You ready? Gotta plan? Or’re you just gonna wing it.”

Shamus had been looking forward to this date for sometime. The youngest of the family wasn’t there to witness his older brothers battles against the Pyramid King, but he was happy to have Paul attend it. 

At his older brother’s question he responded with a smirk. 

“The Fire Warriors always got a plan, Paul. We know we’re up against the biggest challenge we’ve ever had. Besides, knowing that you and Reggie both lost, I’m not going to make the same mistake you both did. I had all day trainings this week. I’m ready, and if I wasn’t, I wouldn’t be here.”

“I… see.” He doesn’t see. He doesn’t get why his brother has done this 180 on him – on one of the few things they had in common that didn’t lead to them arguing all the time.

In his frustration, Paul rubs his temples. Clearly, he’s lost this battle – there’s just no getting around it.

“Well… congratulations. On placing. Third, right? And… If knocking Wallace down a peg is involved, you just – tell me if you ever need anything. Like always.”

Stiffly as always, Paul drops a hand on Shamus’ head and gives it a firm rub. Anything to help his little brother, he supposes. Anything to actually be there.

Wait. Is that what it sounds like? He wants to help out here? Voluntarily? Shamus looked at his brother curiously. What could he do to help him get back at Wallace? 

“Hey, Paul? Do you have something against Wallace too?”

Koichi started typing that into his reply to JP then looked up at alphamon. “Do you want anything?”

“I’m ok, thank you though” the knight answered, Koichi then sent his reply. After a little while Koji managed to find the group, he looked up at alphamon then at Takuya.

“Ok, so what’s he need help with?”

“He needs help finding his two missing knight friends. I think if we all work together and split up then we can cover more ground and make it easy to find them!” Takuya explained.

Koichi looked at a text he just got from JP and chuckled “Hey guys, JP wants to know if we want anything from (insert fast food joint) while he’s there”

Alphamon raised an eyebrow hearing that

“Also Koji’s on his way, too” the human added

“I don’t know if is now is the best time for a triple-stacked cheeseburger with fries and a chocolate-banana shake.” Takuya answered while trying to sound concerned about the situation while cheekily putting in his order.

“…Uh-huh.”

Okay. So there was clearly a bit of skepticism in Paul’s voice. But he would be lying if he said he wasn’t at least a little bit surprised and maybe even impressed by the answer he was given. To say that there was no merit to it would be willfully ignorant, and while Paul may dislike Pokemon Contests, he wasn’t going to go out of his way to be dismissive.

Or at least – not in this case.

“So, what. You’re saying this is just an experiment, then? One that just so happens to come with a side of revenge?”

“Well I wouldn’t use the word experiment. More like, an extension of showing off how great my training of fire types is.”

Paul pinches the bridge of his nose – tempering his patience & considering his wording. He can sense his brother’s frankly valid skepticism of him, but that only makes him more frustrated. “I’m just. Trying to understand. That’s all.”

“Well, Paul, if I’m going to be an expert in fire types, I’m going to have to explore their use beyond just battles. That means using a combination of fire moves to show off not just their battle prowess, but their technique in their moves as well. One can really help with the other.” 

Shamus finished explaining but had one last comment to throw in. 

“Oh, but I also want a certain water snob to notice that I’m doing it better than him.”
