The lonely Viola... Waiting for class...
Just a sibelius recording of my first ‘large scale’ composition.
Disclaimer: The program doesn’t always play breaks correctly and I don’t care enough to fix it for playback. I know where they are supposed to go, and they are notated on the score.
I withhold all copyright to this piece, however it may be used for educational and performance use so long as it is not used in such a way as to gain monetary compensation.
Working on this grade 7 piece from the RCM bridges series. Progress so far on the Theme and first variation.
It recently occurred to me that there is a list of music many of my friends would probably disown me if I couldn’t name the title to upon hearing.
Some of the include:
Beethovan’s Edgemont, Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos, Mozarts Ronda Alla Turca & and the earworm (Kleine Nachtmusik), Smetanaès Ma Vlast, and many more.
If you haven’t heard any of the above I recommend giving them a listen. Even if you think you hate ‘Classical’ music, you should try them.
I feel like everyone probably has their own list; right? What are some of the must haves for your friends to know?
As a composer my goal isn’t to be the next Bach, nor the next Beethoven or Mozart. In fact it’s not even to be the next Saliari or Saint Saens.
My goal is simple. 30 years, 70 years, 100 years from now, I want someone to come across a piece of my music and think ‘That’s quaint’ and smile as they play it. I don’t care if it ever hears a concert hall, or is remembered for all time. As long as it brings just a small dab of joy into someones life once, then it will have endured and done all it was ever intended for.
Greatness isn’t required to be great.
So I am considering updating my blog consistently again; or at the very least cross posting my music posts from my website when I get that section up (By then end of the month)
If I get at least one like on this then I”ll put some effort into it. :)
This is a summary of college only using two pictures; expensive as hell.
That’s my Sociology “book”. In fact what it is is a piece of paper with codes written on it to allow me to access an electronic version of a book. I was told by my professor that I could not buy any other paperback version, or use another code, so I was left with no option other than buying a piece of paper for over $200. Best part about all this is my professor wrote the books; there’s something hilariously sadistic about that. So I pretty much doled out $200 for a current edition of an online textbook that is no different than an older, paperback edition of the same book for $5; yeah, I checked. My mistake for listening to my professor.
This is why we download.

Spreading this shit like nutella because goddamn textbooks are so expensive.
not necessarily art related but as someone who couldn’t afford their textbooks this semester this is a godsend
REBLOGGING because after a little digging, I found my $200 textbook for free in PDF form.
friendly reminder that this exists since I know we’re all going back to college soon
Will reblog every time I see it.
Not buying books this year holla
Listening to totally unrelated music while doing harmonic analysis couldn't possibly lead to weird mistakes.
R. Riera's Montonia, bar 13-14.
I don't know what the heck I did there; but OW HAND CRAMP. That shouldn't have happened. And that freaking hurt.

I want to learn this.
Is it bad that I get turned off of sheet music collections the second it mentions that they include tab?
So a few notes:
1. Burton sucks. Don't live here unless you own a car. Really. Oromocto isn't much better.
2. Second year of my Uni Music/Psych Major - Forensic Anthro Minor starts in less than a month.
3. I'm moderately stressing about one of my courses, Chamber Music, because I have no idea where to even start arranging and performing chamber music with whatever random instruments people who show up can play. At least I can cheat. You can always use a classical guitar for rhythm. Muwahaha.
4. I'm moving in to my apartment for which I'll occupy for the next several years in 2 weeks, and I have no idea how I'm going to move my shit.
And
5. I'm still pretty happy and content with things right now. Go me.
Oh, and:
6. I'm joining the Primary Reserves as a Medic this fall. Also go me.
Intro Stats, Music, and figuring out my taxes, is about as close to math as I get these days.
Thank you for very little Highschool math.
Just caught myself using my pinky on a 6 note run. Shame on me! ;)
Feels rather nice to have an instrument in my hands again.
Just saying.
'How do you make money?'
'I'm a musician'
'You aren't even that good. look at xyz. I've never even heard of you.'
'Okay. Is XYZ here right now?'
'No'
'Can you play better?'
'No'.
Victory. I go on to play.
Oh, and this guy now pays me for lessons.... Not just victory, crushing victory.
