✦ accidental date · everyone knows but you
✦ rookie idol reader. —————————————————————
It all starts as something very stupid.
“Can you walk with Woojin to the café?” the manager asks, already halfway down the hallway. “People are asking questions.”
You blink. “Questions about what?”
“About why you’re both leaving at the same time,” he replies casually. “Just… make it look normal.”
Woojin, standing beside you with his hands in his pockets, hums. “We are normal.”
You snort. “That’s…debatable.”
The manager waves you off before either of you can argue.
And that’s how you end up outside, walking side by side with Woojin, hood pulled over your head and sunglasses slightly too big for your face.
You glance at him. “So. Fake dating?”
“We’re just getting coffee,” he corrects.
“That’s how it starts,” you say seriously. “Next thing you know, people are editing us into matching profile pictures !”
Woojin smiles faintly. “Relax.”
The café is quiet, tucked away between buildings, the kind staff usually recommend when they want idols to disappear for an hour. As soon as you step inside, the barista looks up — then smiles knowingly.
“Two americanos?” she asks.
“Yes,” Woojin says smoothly. “Thank you.”
You stare at him. “How did she—”
“We come here a lot,” he replies.
He tilts his head. “You.”
You open your mouth. Close it. “…Oh.”
The barista sets the cups down with a grin. “You guys are cute, by the way.”
Your soul briefly leaves your body.
“Oh, we’re not—” you start, waving your hands. “We’re just—”
“Thank you,” Woojin says at the same time.
You look at him in pure horror.
He sips his coffee like nothing happened.
You sit by the window, legs tucked under the chair, trying not to combust. Woojin leans back comfortably, like this isn’t the most suspicious situation you’ve ever been in.
“You could’ve corrected her,” you whisper.
He shrugs. “Didn’t seem important.”
You squint at him. “People think we’re dating.”
“They already did,” he replies calmly.
Woojin tilts his head, genuinely confused. “You didn’t know?”
He thinks for a moment. “Huh.”
“HUH ?!” you repeat. “Woojin, that’s not a ‘huh’ situation.”
“Well,” he says lightly, “we’re always together.”
“That’s because you steal my snacks.”
“And you steal my charger.”
You watch him, heart doing something annoyingly weird. “Wait. Who thinks this?”
He counts on his fingers. “Staff. Your members. Mine. The barista. Probably the security guard downstairs.”
You slump back in your chair. “So im the only idiot…?💔”
You groan. “This is so embarrassing.”
Woojin watches you for a second, expression soft. “You don’t look embarrassed.”
“I’m internally screaming.”
“I know,” he says easily. “You tap your foot when you are.”
You stop tapping. “…You notice that?”
You look away, cheeks warm.
The silence settles — not awkward, just quiet. Comfortable. The kind that sneaks up on you.
“You know,” you say slowly, “if this were an actual date, I’d be doing terribly.”
Woojin raises an eyebrow. “Why?”
“I talked too much. Panicked. Almost exposed us.”
He considers it. “I’m having a good time.”
Your heart skips. “You are?”
“Mm,” he nods. “You’re funny.”
You laugh, unable to help it.
The barista glances over again, smiling like she knows something you don’t.
When you stand to leave, Woojin reaches out without thinking — fingers brushing yours, then lacing together naturally.
He looks down at your hands. Then at you.
You stare at each other, realization crashing gently instead of loudly.
“…So we actually do act like a couple,” you mumble.
“Yeah,” he admits. “Guess so.”
Outside, the air feels lighter. The city hums around you, familiar and calm.
“So,” you say, squeezing his hand. “Was this still fake?”
He thinks for a second. Then smiles — soft, easy, very Woojin.
“Nothing official,” he says. “Unless you want it to be.”
You grin. “I’ll think about it.”
He chuckles. “You’re overthinking again.”
“But,” he adds, thumb brushing your knuckle, “I can wait.”
Yeah. You can work with that. ——————————————————————— YAYYY I LIKED THIS ONE SMMMM !!! ✦ thank you for reading ! ♡ reblogs appreciated ~
