I hate Solipsism? But I hate believing in it even more. It’s dumb, I know, but you can never be too sure of yourself or surroundings. “You’re not the only conscious being in the universe! I’m real, see!” That’s exactly what someone who isn’t real would say. How do I know you’re telling the truth? What is truth? “So you believe you’re the superior being? Pfft.” Well, what else do I call myself? If I’m the only conscious being within in this entire existence, I have to have some sort of power that is akin to a God to be able to think up all this stuff. My brain is complex. I dunno. Question everything.
Is Caprica worth getting into? Like, the end of BSG ignored (as far as I’m concerned the series ended with the writers’ strike and the humans and cylons settled some new world), is it possible to go back to that without thinking “this is all going to end with "god did it”“? And is it actually good?
I love it! If you don’t like the whole religious themed pieces to BSG, then I’m not sure if Caprica is for you. I think what makes Caprica really interesting is that we can already see humanity heading towards the time that Caprica is set

Do not regard weapons as lovely things, for to think them lovely means to delight in them, and to delight in them means to delight in the slaughter of man.

Sorry in advance if this is rude, but it seems completely wrongheaded for someone to think about which religions are "them." It sounds like someone talking about whether Aristotelian physics or Newtonian physics is more "them." God exists like atoms exist or he doesn't. I either have an immortal soul which will get tortured in a lake of fire for all eternity because of my mistaken beliefs or I don't. Whatever the answers to these questions are, they're important facts about the universe.
As there are many different religions around the world that claim to have some, if not all of the answers to the questions about God, the beginning, the end, and our purpose, all of which that cannot be proven to be real, I think it’s important to find one that you have a personal attachment to.
If evidence can support a religion or set of beliefs, I will go for that. As religions, and answers to such questions are faith based only, I can only have faith in the set of beliefs that I agree with, based on my own personal thoughts, that are built upon my past experiences and knowledge of the subjects.I believe in equality - no matter your skin colour, or sex, we are all equal. Should I join a faith based movement that states otherwise, and would condemn me to an eternity of torture if I choose to go elsewhere? I cannot for a second believe that such an idea could possibly be true. A religion that states that mankind are all equal, no matter who you were born as, born from, or born into? Absolutely. That feels more “me”.That’s sort of what I meant about finding a religion that is me.I understand that the truth is the truth, no matter my opinion of it. But as we are all walking blind in this life, we have to make our decisions based on what we feel is right.
Looking through the "religion" tag and I was unable to find the answer to my question which is, if you don't mind discussing, what are your theological beliefs? Answer publically if you like or privately if you prefer. Either way, have a blessed day.
Hey, thanks for your message!
At the moment I’m not too sure on where I stand on any of this.
Late 2012 (I think) I was baptised as a Mormon after a lot of studying and research. Around 8 months later I stopped attending the meetings as I had a number of questions that were going unanswered. Around 18 - 24 months after that I felt as if I could no longer follow the Church in any (well, most) of their teachings.I then went to study with a pair of sisters from my local Jehovah’s Witnesses meetinghouse. I attended many meetings with them, and still go to the odd one or two a year. They have a number of similarities to the LDS / Moron church, which is what first attracted me to them. Whilst I think they have many good points, it just wasn’t for me.
Since then I’ve stepped away from Christianity and Christian-based religions. I’ve read the Qur’an, and read many books to do with Islam, and the teachings of Muhammad, but found they just weren’t for me at all. I then went to the Eastern religions, which seem to be a lot more “me”.At the moment I think of any of the religions I’ve looked into, I feel drawn to Taoism the most. The more I read and learn, the more I feel myself drawn closer to it.
My beliefs on the Bible and its teachings/interpretations are somewhat mixed, due to the various studying I’ve done on the less orthodox Christian based groups. I know this is quite a vague answer to your question! If you’d like to know what I beleive about a certain topic, I’d be more than willing to go into more detail :-)
FLDS Wiki
I am in the process of setting up an FLDS Wiki (can be found at https://fldswiki.com).
I am looking for people who have an interest in this church to help add information regarding their beliefs, doctrine, prophets & publications.
If you would like to contribute towards this project, please either create an account on the wiki site or message me on here.
This project will be not-for-profit, and all information added will be added by volunteers. If this project takes off, I may have a couple of small non-intrusive ads, and all income will be donated to a charity to help ex-FLDS members and children.
Any suggestions are more than welcome!
