the benoit blanc movies show really beautifully how to write a queer character whose story is not centered around their queerness. it's shown that benoit blanc is gay married (to hugh grant!) it's shown that he participates in queer mediums like musical theater and fashion, but none of those things are ever explicitly remarked on. he doesn't have a big coming out scene because he doesn't need one; and the subtle details about him not speaking to his mother, the way he associates a church with homophobia, allows us to draw conclusions about how his family felt about his queerness without making that the sole conflict in his story. the conflict in benoit blanc's story is not that he exists in the world as a gay person, it's that he's always trying to wrangle a bunch of 30 somethings into not confessing to crimes they didn't commit

Just got back from a trip to Italy that someone else paid for, sipping free wine, eating soul food I bought on my maxed out credit card while watching a Sky Club reaction video, my bank account is in the negatives, and I don’t work again until Friday. Life is good

I think we quickly realized that John and Francesca are quite odd, and different from the other people who have the sort of intense love moments. I think it’s quite nice to play something quite different and alternative. We’ve got to explore the different ways in which connections can be made without ripping each other’s clothes off. It was quite nice as an actor. It’s a great challenge to connect with another actor without actually saying words.

During those moments, I had this inner monologue that I would run every single take, of what I want to say, but not actually say it. It just made it even more exciting, because there’s so much more to say. There’s so many emotions I’m feeling, and I’m not stifling it.
