Daniel’s hands were still shaking as he pressed his face into his arms. He forced himself to listen to Nik as the male spoke to him. He was a wreck, and more embarrassed than he had been in a while.
“W-was that worth it?” Daniel asked, letting the question sink into his head. “Why would that have been worth it? I just… I just made a fool of myself in front of someone that I.. that I don’t know and then she’s probably going to tell her friends of how much of a creeper I am and… and…” Daniel leaned back in his chair and placed his hands over his face. “She didn’t care. I was trying to be nice. I offered to buy her all of this food and she just… walked away.”
“Maybe… maybe I’m just not attractive… maybe that’s why she didn’t say anything to me?” He was trying to figure out a solid answer. “Or maybe… maybe she isn’t into guys? Or I just… I’m a nerd, Nik. No one wants to be with someone that spends their days around books.” Daniel shook his head. “I think you’re trying to help a lost cause…” Daniel muttered. He really hoped that that wasn’t true. He wanted to be able to flirt with people, now more than ever. But he didn’t think Nik would want to teach him after the mess of a show he just put on.
Man, this kid was having a breakdown... Nik almost felt bad. Maybe he should have prepped him a little more for what Nik knew was going to happen.
He gave the guy a pitied look as he reached out and attempt to... pat the guy’s head.
“Hey, now... Don’t go thinking like that. Let me explain this to you... 99.9% of the girls you ever meet are not going to give a shit about you and your feelings when you meet them. That’s just a fact. People don’t care about people they don’t know, especially guys. We’re not supposed to have a lot of feelings, remember? Didn’t they ever teach you that in school?
“You, on the other hand, went in there caring about her feelings. You cared about how she might feel about you approaching her, and then you cared about how she felt about you when she rejected you. That was a huge mistake. That is what keeps you from being confident and keeping your head on straight. And it wasn’t worth it, right? So, first lesson: Save your feelings for someone who gives a shit. I promise you, there is not a single girl in this cafe who is giving a shit about either one of us right now. Got that?”
