ADHD thought #12
I feel like everyone who has ADHD obsesses over the fact they have ADHD…
Just me??
I am too tired to do anything but also to ADHD to nothing
that ADHD feel when ur trying to get back into a productive mindset after taking a break from work like
me when someone/something distracts me from my task for a moment
ADHD Memory
Is anyone else’ memory like this?
Me: *looks at long list of important information I have to remember* I can do this...
My ADHD brain: Nope, not even going to try, let’s remember all the words to that song you hate.
Me: .........
Me: Do I get a choice?
My ADHD brain: Not a one.
Procrastination
So I have gone to new levels of procrastination. I am procrastinating doing my work by doing other work and procrastinating doing that work by going to the shops; but I’m procrastinating going to the shops by doing some art work. Which, of course, I am procrastinating by pre making my lunches for the next week.
That’s all I have to say on the matter, goodnight ✌︎
ADHD Moods Brought to You by "The Office"
When the procrastination sets in:
And it just keeps going…
And going…
And going…
But your deadline is the next morning so you activate Hyperfocus (hopefully):
When the RSD kicks in:
But you forget about it as soon as something else comes up:
When you think about how you responded after the RSD has passed:
When someone explains something to you but you can’t hold on to their instructions:
When they re-explain it and you only kinda get it:
When people ask you why you keep messing up:
This is to realistic
ADHD be like:
I cannot express how happy I am that this exists; marvel and adhd, the ultimate, yet the cause of most of my procrastination, combination
sleeping with ADHD
me: can I please go to sleep? I’m tired.
my ADHD brain: Hi tired, I’m bored.
I’m so nervous for my appointment because I 100% know I have inattentive adhd but I’m worried I’m actually a hypochondriac and I’m just lazy :;(∩´﹏`∩);: Any advice on how to really advocate for myself even when nervous?
My advice is to be as honest as you can be, that way you will get the best diagnosis from your doctor; I know that it can be nerve racking to go to an appointment but it will help you to understand and manage your adhd and just remember, that so many people have been through this and you are not alone. So if you ever get nervous or worried, just reach out to our amazing community of adhd brains and they will not let you down. I hope this helped you :)
I expressed wanting to see a doctor for a diagnosis to my mother and she seemed to be on board with that. But, I told my dad and he says that I don't need one, all I need to do is "socialise with REAL people and go outside more, it's just teenage hormones" and now I'm not so sure if I'm just exaggerating or not. I don't want to belittle those who actual have adhd by claiming I have it when I don't have all the symptoms and it isn't debilitating..
The most important thing to consider when you are getting a diagnosis is not what other people think about it, but instead thinking about what you want, if you want this diagnosis and if you think you need one, then don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. You know yourself better than anyone else does and if you want to get a diagnosis then that is your choice to make, no one else’s.
Any tips for emotion dysregulation? I know how to manage my executive dysfunction. It’s just the emotional issues I struggle with.
My advice would be to find things that calm you down or make you feel relaxed, like listening to music or going for a walk, whatever works for you; putting them in a list and whenever things just seem to get too much, go back to the list and do something that helps you calm down. I hope this helped :)
I'm kind of going through this alone and I feel awkward talking about this stuff with irl ppl bc there are Bigger Things going on but I just want to tell someone that I'm on the waiting list to be assessed for ADHD!!! I finally went to the dr, ove the phone, she asked some questions, she asked if I had trouble organising, literally laughed at that question, but either way things are in MOTION
Wow! That’s amazing!! Well done for doing that, I know it must have been difficult but it’s amazing that you’ve taken this first step! Keep going and stay strong!!

You CAN Do It!
Hello ADHD Family!
I know that it’s been a while since I’ve posted properly and I’m sorry about that, I’ve just moved to university! I know that some of you are in the same boat as me, being first years and uni, so everything has been a little hectic. I’ve been at uni for two weeks now and I must say that, as much as I am loving it, the work for my subject is a lot and I really wasn’t expecting it to be this much. I have been struggling with managing both uni life and uni work. My motivation has been low and my work pile just seems to be getting bigger and bigger every day. But despite all of this, I am still trying!
I know work, whether that being uni work, school work or work for your job, can be a horrible task to do; and sometimes it can feel like it will never end and the work load is just too difficult. But, you can do it. No ‘buts’, no ‘I can’t’s because you CAN do it. I know that it’s stressful and frustrating and sometimes you may feel like you’re the only person in the world who has difficulty with this; but you aren’t alone. There are so many people out there who have the same struggles as you do, and there are so many strategies to help you get that work done.
ADHD and Work don’t get on well. And it is not that ‘you’re lazy’ or ‘you’re stupid’ because that simply isn’t true. We as people with ADHD just need to find a different and unique way of working or doing something that doesn’t interest us. There are so many different ways to help you focus or become motivated, whether that being setting a timer for 20 minutes of work and then taking a break, or doing something active while working.
No matter what the task is, you CAN do it; because you are ADHD. Having ADHD isn’t a weakness or something that holds us back, having ADHD can be amazing, and when we put our minds to something, we CAN do it. We are ADHD and we are hella strong!
You CAN do it! Believe in the power of your beautiful brains and you can accomplish anything! ❤︎
