A day to celebrate diversity

The Coming Out Day was created in 1988 by Dr. Robert Eichberg and Jean O'Leary on the occasion of the Second March for the Rights of Gays and Lesbians that took place in Washington and where more than 500,000 people came to ask equal rights . Since then, it has been held every year, except in 2001, since it coincided with September 11.

The National Coming Out Day serves to raise awareness among the world population about the problems of the LGBT community and the struggle that is taking place every day for their rights. In the United States, the Human Rights Campaign organizes the event, providing resources for gay individuals, couples, parents and children, as well as heterosexual friends.

To celebrate this day, let’s review the most emblematic coming out of the closet moments of the small screen.

1) Kurt on ‘Glee’

The musical series of Ryan Murphy had in Kurt his standard-bearer LGBT: a shy boy, reserved but with a very special voice that, with time, would reveal his true identity and initiate a wonderful relationship with Blaine, the main voice of the Warblers .

In the fourth episode of the first season, Kurt revealed to his father that he liked boys and the reaction of his father could not be more exemplary.
