Were Jane Bennet and Charles Bingley in love?
Yes - of course! They adore each other and their feelings never waver
Maybe - we didn't see enough of them to say for sure
No - it was just superficial infatuation; they don't each other well enough

I always wondered why I dislike Willow Rosenberg despite admiring her intelligence, her eagerness to help with whatever needs to be done, and the fact that in real life she's probably the character I'd have the most interesting (read: hopelessly nerdy!) conversations with.
It's partly the breathy, overly cutesy speech patterns and doe-eyed, "golly, you mean lil ole ME?!" mannerisms that Whedon seems to require at least 1-2 women on all of his shows to display to a painfully exaggerated degree :) (One of the worst parts about us knowing just how much of a jackass Whedon is that I can't avoid seeing evidence of his weird biases and creepy fetishes throughout his work even when I really don't want to!)
Honestly, though, I think Willow is such an uncomfortable watch for me because she reminds me of a very problematic person - the one I see in the mirror on the rare occasions that I'm courageous enough to look in one! I too was a nerdy, overly eager, anxiety-ridden, 'unpopular' geek with an unrequited crush on my best male friend for years. I know how painful all that can be and how detrimental it is to your self-esteem.
And I know how that brand of vulnerability and insecurity can somehow morph into a weirdly entitled "so when is it MY turn to be desired and liked and accepted and maybe even admired?!" So when that unrequited crush suddenly finds her attractive, Willow is so desperate to finally be desired by him and repair her formerly fractured ego that she cheats on her devoted boyfriend. And whenever she's rejected or neglected or even just not given enough credit or attention for something, she gets petulant and sometimes even bitter and spiteful. And when she wants something - or someone (like when it comes to keeping Tara, for instance) - she will deceive and manipulate to get it.
Objectively, it's a really authentic, layered and complex characterization. Subjectively, I hate watching it because it reminds me of my own worst self.
There are a million valid reasons to love Willow, dislike her or feel anything in between. I just recently realized why she's always been a brutal watch for me and had to share it here because I can no longer afford a therapist ;)
