THE BEST OF US CAN FIND HAPPINESS IN MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISERY
{ Arranged Marriage AU }
Seff eyed the two men warily as they shook hands. Something was up and he knew he wasn’t going to like what was going to happen. Gritting his teeth as his dad nudged him forward, the feline walked forward with his head held high, he wasn’t going to let these strangers think he was weak. Tuning the two older men out, he couldn’t help but roll his eyes. All he wanted to do was to be home, reading the book he had been reading while out in the gardens with the other tigers.
Once they'd finally reached the dinning hall, Odin took a firm grasp on Loki's arm and drew him close to himself and therefore their guests. ❝I would like to introduce you to my son, Loki Odinson,❞ Loki had to bite back his response of 'Laufeyson', instead giving a clearly forced smile in the direction of their visitors. ❝Pleasure to meet you,❞ he finally drawled out after feeling his Father's elbow jab into his ribs to prompt him.

Seff barely contained the hiss that wanted to pass his lips as his dad yet again tried to fix his hair while his father and Odin spoke. Briefly, his eyes studied the royals before him before turning his gaze to study the objects around him. Everything was so… Gold.
Sighing quietly, he absently ran his fingers through his tail and rolled his eyes as his dad told him to stop it.
"Odin, my brother, long time no see!" His father exclaimed as his father shook Odin’s hand. Brother? Must be a war thing, he thought to himself. He didn’t understand why he had to be here and not his twin but he thought it was weird that only one of Odin’s sons were there and not both of them.
Thor's absence was something that Loki would complain about at length later; he had been under the false pretence that his beloved brother would be joining them, and clearly that was untrue.
❝Brother! It has been far too long,❞ Odin replied in kind, embracing the other's hand and shaking it firmly. ❝Welcome to my home. Please, do come in and make yourselves comfortable,❞ there was a look in Odin's eye that Loki didn't trust in the slightest -- he looked far too happy for such a normal reunion.
It was Frigga who lead the way this time so that Odin could linger back and talk among his guests like a gracious host, Loki keeping to himself. It further added to his suspicions when he realised his Father was waiting until they were in the dinning hall to make introductions.

The feline fidgeted in the clothes he was made to wear, they were much more formal than the usual clothing he had to wear to dinner when his fathers friends were in Attendance but this time they were going to their home. Asgard. “Stop fidgeting,” Bledig said and lightly swatted at Seff’s hands and moved to try and run his fingers through his son’s hair once they had arrived through the Bifrost. “Dad stoooop,” he whined and moved out of the way and purposefully fixed his hair back into the way he had it before. He swore he saw a smirk on Heimdall’s lips though he wasn’t sure. Sighing quietly, he followed after the guards. “I don’t see why I have to be here! It’s just going to be father and Odin drinking, eating and catching up,” he mumbled under his breath only loud enough for Bledig to hear.
❝They have arrived,❞ it was the booming voice of Odin that broke the silence which had settled upon the room. ❝We shall greet them at the entrance, come,❞ that alone was unusual enough to throw Loki off guard, eyes suspicious as they flickered between his Mother and his Father. He let out a sigh when he realised he wasn't going to be getting any answers, allowing Frigga to begin shooing him out of the room and in the direction his Father had taken. He trailed behind, arriving at the entrance of his home a few moments after his Father. He could hear Odin speaking, but he had tuned it out in favour of studying their guests; in particular, the younger male who looked just as uncomfortable as he felt.
Quick and brusquely she answered, “He left me…” she paused a moment, let her mouth hang, then blew air past her lips and drank more directly out of the bottle, “he…left me, left me…it’s over.” She downed another swig of wine and hugged the bottle with a sniffle while shifting her eyes towards the direction of the piano. “I took lessons when I was younger—I mainly just doodle on it when I’m bored now, nothing extraordinary. Why, can you play?”
"Eh, don’t sweat it." She leaned into his arm once they reached the top of the steps to veer him to the right. "It used to be where my ex’s friends would crash after game nights—we were a big football house." She flipped the switch and smiled while stopping about two feet into the room and broadening her shoulders. "Okay Lo," she motioned to their right, "dresser," she pointed in front of the bed positioned on the far wall in front of them, "chase, bed, night tables, window ledge—which is where I like to sit, closet, TV is above the bed as well, I can show you how to work one if you get bored of me and…” she frowned while eyeing him, “you did not bring a single item with you, is there anything you need to borrow?” Cheeks flushed and she dropped her eyes while disguising discomfort with a quiet laugh. “If there’s one thing my exes were good at, it was leaving without coming back to collect their things, so…” she shrugged, “they were around your size, I’ve got plenty of guy clothes.” She drank directly out of the bottle again and grabbed his wrist, gently stroking fingers along the palm of his hand. “Is this alright?”
❝Then he is surely a bigger fool than I first believed,❞ anger for his brother began to boil under the surface once again, clear behind his emerald gaze as he watched her drinking. He could see the pain that Thor had caused her, and he almost wished he could bring a similar pain to the brute himself. He took a deep breath, trying to steady himself once again and allow the subject to change. ❝Yes, I can play. My Mother thought it was necessary for us to be skilled in the arts.❞
He allowed her to steer his direction, his gaze sweeping his surroundings and taking in everything the room had to offer. ❝Sounds... interesting,❞ he murmured in response, listening to her speak and studying each object she pointed out to him. ❝I will not be getting bored of you, and have never seen use of a TV before in my many years, but thank you all the same.❞ He frowned slightly at her clear discomfort, shaking his head slowly. ❝No, I had not been intending to stay the night... I did not think to bring my belongings with me. I'm sure I'll be able to find something adequate.❞ He allowed her to take his wrist, eyes dropping to watch what she was doing. His lips quirked into a small smile at the soft touch, the pad of his thumb moving to stroke over her fingers. ❝It is more than generous, thank you Jane. And if it's any consolation, the men may not stay with you for long, but I seem to be romantically repellent from the first time I say 'hello' to the fairer sex,❞ he was trying to make her smile.

"I believe our mutual friend Mr.Stark wants to describe it as a lab accident." She shrugged. "I call it something he better hurry up and fix."
❝Ah, I see. Well, what a... curious accident,❞ he was trying to hide a laugh behind his fixed façade.
“So it is mine that is odd? How very… Odd." She laughed lightly, opening her eyes widely for a moment and withdrawing her hand slowly. Aesir: A strange, yet familiar word. It was ever interesting to know that there beings beyond the ones she had previously known. Was this one so different? The very aura of him made her assume so. "I come from a realm all my own. It is called Shivering Isles. A marvelous place . Oh yes, marvelous. One of the many planes of Oblivion, but mine is the best. I assure you."
Sheogorath perked a brow, a quite mischievous grin on her face. “I may be a bit forward, but could you show me around this realm? I am quite famished from the… Travel. You could tell me more about this land, Prince Loki. And this strange word Aesir.”
❝Shivering Isles?❞ he tested out the name, surprised that he had never heard of such a place. He was sure he knew of all the realms, but Sheo had managed to prove that belief wrong. ❝I am sure it is... I must pay it a visit sometime, seeing as my knowledge of the plane seems to be so pitiful.❞ he had always had a thirst for knowledge, and the curiosity was burning deep inside of himself.
❝My, that is rather forward,❞ he playfully chastised, though he had a clear smile on his lips. ❝As it happens, I believe we have both arrived on the grounds of Midgard, a realm I know better than most. I am sure I can direct us to somewhere that will provide adequate food to fill your hunger and answer any queries you may have along the way.❞
“I’m not taking a seat, old man. You take a seat first."
❝Stark, always so distrustful. But fine, if we really must do this dance,❞ he sighed, walking over to a chair and taking a seat upon it.
Loki's temper was at it's peak, anger simmering behind his emerald hues as he surveyed his surroundings. He'd had to sit back and once again witness Odin singing Thor's praises, and as usual, Loki had gone ignored, his achievements meaning nothing in comparison to the golden child, the apple of his Father's eye. It hurt more than he'd ever admit, even to himself, and so he turned that sorrow into anger, wrath and venom.
❝Who do you think you are to look at me that way?❞ he demanded of a random passer-by, knowing full well why they were staring at him; he was, afterall, making quite a scene for himself. But making people fear him, making them quake in their boots, was one of the only things that brought joy to him nowadays. ❝Well?! Do you have tongue in that evidently brain-less skull of yours?❞

❝Now, Loki dear, please remember to be on your best behaviour,❞ Frigga reminded for the umpteenth time that day, her fingertips carding through his already slicked back hair in a pointless attempt to neaten it up once again. It was a nervous habit of her's that had persisted throughout his childhood, but he'd mistakenly believed she'd gotten over it since he'd reached adulthood. Tonight was proving otherwise.
❝Please, Mother. I know how to be civil. You and Father did bring me up with manners. I have sat in on enough of Father's dinners to know what is what,❞ he didn't understand why she was acting as though tonight were of grave importance, or why she was so nervous. As far as Loki could tell, it was a simple dinner between Odin and one of his old friends, along with their families. It should have been a happy, informal occasion if nothing else. The look on her face, however, said something entirely different.
