Niko and the Sword of Light Season 2, Part 1 - Official Trailer | Prime …
Niko Season 2 is available on amazon Prime!
A part of the FX in the intro I did! I’ll have a bunch of process videos edited together one day, I promise!
patreon.com/jermz
I could watch this all day
Fire dude lip sync test
Sound clip is from “Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life”
And the GIF version here “I couldn’t eat another thing, I’m absolutely stuffed!”
Animators that are amazing at character animation AND FX animation simply blow my mind. It takes everything I have just to do FX animation at a C+ level.... MAYBE a B-.... on my better days.
My little participaton for a Doritos commercial with the fabulous people from THE LINE ANIMATION. Lot of characters to animate on this one, but pretty fun to do!
full commercial here!
SPEECH...LESS. WOW
I feel like I haven’t been here in years. But there’s a reason for that–I’m compositing! I’m officially done producing animation and backgrounds for Act 01 so now there’s nothing to draw or animate till I take a good look at my first crack at the edit. It’s a slog though. There are so many moving parts. And I already see a lot of places that need some tlc and revisions. Nothing major though. Just lots of small things.
GREAT GOOGALY MOOGALY. This guys incredible... anyone involved in animation NEEDS to follow him.
ʜᴇʀᴏᴇs ᴍᴇᴄʜᴀ sᴛᴏʀᴍ!
WOW
these are some of the coolest explosions ive seen in awhile. Bravo!
Old Animation - Explosions
Continuing with old animation because why not. Explosions are like the #1 thing that people like to see from Effects animators, and they are a lot of fun to animate and have a lot of energy. Next to smoke I’ve probably animated more explosions for work than anything else, and probably only done smoke more because invariably smoke follows an explosion. But it is one of the effects I actually animated the least prior to going into production, and I personally prefer doing the slower stuff.
of course within the first month of starting animating effects I wanted to try my hand at an explosion, not really a true explosion, more of a big fireball, but it is still what I have listed as “explosion 1″ this is about a month into my effects journey.
Explosions are VERY forgiving with their timing as long as you don’t build up for more than a few frames
Heres the second one I did, the timing on it is awful
the next one I did was actually on my senior film, most of my FX tests were focused around slower effects, a lot of water and some smoke, explosions are so quick and the aftermath can be very tedious and take a long time, I really didn’t do too many, never would have guessed I would later do them literally all the time
the resolving of the smoke afterwards is my favorite part of animating an explosion, I didn’t quite have the timing down yet. the next 2 are ones I animated between graduation and working doing effects in production, 2012 or early 2013. There may have been others but if there were I can’t find them.
I got better at the timing, especially after doing literally dozens of them for production. I won’t show any of the ones I did for production, one I don’t have many of them and 2 I’m not sure i’m supposed to post them anyways, but I posted an explosion last week (i’m using it as the thumbnail for this post) that I’m pretty happy with nowadays that represents how much I learned in production since these old, static tests.
Next week i’ll post my old smoke animation which will probably be my last old animation post as well as my longest one, but its been fun revisiting some of these older animation tests
This guy knows his stuff.... trust me. :)
Water splash for Cinder falling into the lake in RWBY Chapter 3. Composited by the ultra talented Heather Rodgers.
Cool little energy ball for RWBY that ended up not being used. Wha wahh...
A hand full of dragon related stuff I did for RWBY Chapter 3.
Fxs I did on Dofus the movie again !
I love this stuff soooo much.
some monsters from Taiwanese folk stories
From top left :
芒神(魔神仔)Moo-Sin-A, evil creatures appear in the wild or mountains who love to prank ppl.
貓鬼 Cat ghost. They sneak inside the house and kill one month old babies. That’s why some old ppl believe we need to hang died cats on the trees to avoid they become this kind of ghost.
竹篙鬼 The bamboo ghost which will kill ppl or steal ppl’s spirit.
海中毛人 The fluffy monster lives in the sea, who points directions and creates winds for sailors
地牛 The underground cow which will cause earthquakes when she turns her body over.
