Summary:
Cas can sense Dean’s longing but Dean doesn’t know that. So, Cas tries to use this advantage against him, because they are bickering after Cas killed Billie to save them. Dean is ignoring him, using his silent treatment. But Cas is sick of Dean’s ungratefulness and uses his knowledge of Dean’s longing to play with him and make Dean talk to him.

Summary: Dean is away from Cas longer than he likes so he finds a creative way to past the time.
Sam leaves the bathroom giving Dean a quick ‘good night’, the sorry again is left unsaid but Dean hears it all the same.
“Night, Sammy.” Dean clips. He knows it’s not his fault but that doesn’t leave Dean any less annoyed. He heads into the bathroom for his own quick shower.
Almost a week ago Sam had come to Dean with a quick milk run hunt. ‘Two days, tops’ he said, Dean wasn't really up for it since it meant having to leave Cas behind.
Before the Empty Cas’ powers weren’t the best but now they seemed to be failing him more. The past couple of weeks have been especially hard, he’s been so tired he’s sleeping more and more. Dean knew Cas would probably insist on coming, always one to put his needs last.
Sure enough when Dean told Cas about the hunt he started getting out of bed saying he was ready. One look from Dean shut that down.
“I know you want to help and believe me I want nothing more than for you to come but you’re not ok. And don’t give me that I’m fine crap because I know you’re not.”
Cas sighed conceding that Dean was right. The silver lining was Jack would be staying home too so at least this meant he could have some quality time with him.
Dean packed quickly, if he waited too long he’d never leave. He went back to the bed, pulling the covers over Cas. He reached down, gently stroking his hair back before giving him a kiss on the forehead. “Sam says two days, we’ll do it in one and I’ll be back before you know it, ok?”
Cas nodded. “Be careful, Dean. I’ll miss you but don’t rush on my account.”
Dean smiled. “Always am. You just rest up and don’t worry about me, ok?” He gave him another quick kiss and set off.
That was five days ago.
Sam’s milk run of a hunt turned into a whole damn Costco shopping trip. After the third day Cas was ready to ignore Dean’s pleas to stay home until Jack finally convinced him it was safer for them both if Cas stayed.
This was the longest they’ve been apart since the Empty and Dean hated every minute of it. He scrolled through the (very) few pictures of them on his phone but it wasn’t enough. He would remedy that the second he got home but for now he did the next best thing-he drew.
He took the notepad from the hotel desk and just started sketching. He didn’t even know what he was drawing until it took shape, Castiel’s eyes. He used a blue pen to fill them in but it didn’t do them justice.
Then it was his hands. Before they got together he vaguely knew Cas’ hands were big and he liked that. But once they were on him? And those long fingers in him? Well, he became obsessed.
Soon he filled up the notepad with sketches of Cas’s eyes, hands, maybe even some NSFW body parts. Eventually he had to get another pad from the front desk because not only was the hunt taking too damn long but he couldn’t stop drawing.
Dean finishes his shower and heads to his room. He slowly opens the door trying to not wake Cas in the process. He’s unsuccessful.
Cas stirs from under the covers. “Dean?” His voice was rough from sleep.
Dean lays next to him, pulling him close. “Yeah, it’s me. Go back to sleep. We can talk in the morning.”
“How many gallons of milk did you get?” he mumbles, sleepy.
Dean laughs, “More than enough.”
Cas is back asleep before he can say anymore.
Dean is exhausted but he’s not tired, not yet. He grabs a pad of paper he thankfully has next to his bed. He does want to take more pictures of him but the urge to draw him like this, in his bed, asleep and peaceful is too strong to resist.
Dean's lungs hurt with every step he took. He felt as if he was going to pass out, throw up, and then his heart was going to jump out of his chest like a cartoon. All in that order.
But he couldn’t slow down. He needed to save his own ass from getting sacrificed—he really needs to stop using himself as bait—as well as the poor son of a bitch they left in here with him. Dean barely saw the dude but he knew one of them was getting nailed in the cornfield—not in the cool sexy way—and the other in the pumpkin patch.
He wished they had given him the pumpkin patch because running for his life through a fucking cornfield during the midnight hour sure wasn’t his idea of fun.
He had a spell ready to kill these tiny Gods but they had to be together and where ever the sacrificial guy was, the Pumpkin King was sure to follow. Unless he was eaten already then Dean was screwed.
He wasn’t sure if he was even running in the right direction, the cornfield felt never-ending, but then he tripped into a clearing. Rolling behind some hay and bumping heads with somebody.
“Ow!” Dean hissed. Not because of the head bump but because someone just punched him hard on the shoulder. The dude looked like he was ready to do it again, winding up his arm and wide blue eyes looking extra crazy under the moonlight.
“Stop! Stop! Stop. Hey….buddy?” Dean grabbed the dude's fist and quickly pinned it behind him. “You got kidnapped and left for dead in this field for a monster to kill you?”
The man quickly nodded, knocking Dean backward and pinning him underneath his body. Dean looked up, surprised but in awe of this beautiful man.
“I had a bad morning.” The handsome stranger said. A voice so smooth and deep it made Dean want to sigh dreamily at him, but he needed to not be killed first.
“Tell me about it.” Dean tried to charm his way out of this one but a loud scream of something otherworldly brought his attention back to reality. “Sorry let me introduce myself,” The man raised a brow at him but Dean felt the body weight on top of him become lighter. “I’m Dean and I know how to kill these bitches.”
“Oh?” They heard footsteps come closer and Castiel looked around before they both quickly crawled toward the cornfield. They lay low and held their breath for what felt like forever.
Eventually, the footsteps got further and further away and they crawled their way back to where they met. Backs against the stack of hay and eyes facing forward towards the cornfield.
“Cas.” The man whispered to Dean after they both finally caught their breath. “And I don’t know how I got here. But I want to go home. Alive. Preferably.”
“Well, Cas,” Dean held his hand out for Cas to take for a shake but Cas kept their grip. Dean could feel their pulse race between their palms and didn’t pull back either. Instead, he gave Cas’s hand a little squeeze of reassurance, meeting those wide eyes filled with terror but determination—probably a bad combination. “I’ll make sure of it.”
Cas smiled, it was small but Dean wanted to see more of it. “Thank you, Dean.”
Today feels different somehow. Or maybe it's Cas who feels different.

He begins the day watching the sun rise from the Bunker's roof, a habit he's recently acquired as the weather turns crisp and autumnal. Afterwards, he sets the big industrial coffeepot brewing in the kitchen, another of his habitual behaviors. As the contraption starts to steam and hiss, Sam walks through and tosses a “morning, Cas” over his shoulder on his way out for his daily run.
Generally, at this point in the day, he would retire to the library to read for a few hours, or go outside to work in his garden. But today feels different somehow. There's a yearning itch under his skin, an inspired desire to act, to do. He's not quite sure yet how he wants to act, what he wants to do, but he heeds the metaphorical tickle in his brain. He grabs Dean's favorite mug (the oversized one shaped like a cowboy boot, “Saddle up!” written across it in letters made of twisting rope), fills it with fresh coffee, stirs in a spoonful of sugar and a dash of cream, and carries it down the hall.
He taps on Dean's door, waiting for a quiet “hmm? 'Sup?” from inside before entering.
“There's no case or anything. I've just brought you some coffee,” Cas says. He keeps his voice soft, unwilling to further disturb the dim quiet of the room. Thanks to a small nightlight in the corner and the light from the hallway that filters in through the vents of the door, he can see well enough to avoid tripping on a pair of discarded jeans on the floor as he brings the cup over to the bed.
Dean, heavy-lidded and tousle-haired, sits up and accepts the offering, patting the covers next to him in invitation for Cas to sit. He takes a deep inhale of the fragrant, rising steam and sighs in sleepy contentment. “How come I rate such a special delivery today?” he asks hoarsely. He harrumphs to clear his throat a bit, then takes a sip.
Cas shrugs, helpless to explain why he's there, helpless to put into words the feeling he's had since he watched dawn break across the meadow behind the Bunker this morning. “I felt like company,” is the best he can do.
“'M not usually the best company in the mornings, dude,” Dean remarks dryly. He's drained half the mug by now, and his bleary gaze is beginning to clear. “Aren't you and Sam still working on that lore project on our off days?”
And there's that itch again, urging him on. It pushes him to say something that, on any other day, he'd swallow. “I don't love Sam the same way I love you,” he says. The words are raw, deeply felt, searingly true, but he does his best to deliver them in an offhanded manner, as if he's doing nothing more exciting than remarking on the weather.
Despite his feigned nonchalance, he watches Dean startle when those ten little words land. The hunter reels for a moment, seems almost dizzy, and it takes him three tries to place his now-empty mug on his nightstand. He turns wide green eyes towards him, face beseeching and open, and asks, “Wait, you love me?” His voice is little more than a wheeze, as if he's had the wind knocked clear out of him.
Cas marvels. I did that, he thinks. His words have discombobulated his friend as thoroughly as a bat to the head. Well, in for a penny, in for a pound. There's no going back from this now.
“I do. I always have,” he replies, and then he waits. He waits for Dean to yell, to laugh, to walk away, to proffer a distraction, to punch him.
Dean does none of these. He smiles. It's a shy, uncertain smile, but his eyes shine in the low light of the room. He clears his throat, quirks his mouth like he's fighting a sob, then huffs a soft laugh and asks, “Why, Cas? How??”
Emboldened, Cas lays himself emotionally bare. “Beloved,” he begins, and what ecstasy he feels when that word leaves his lips! “Beloved,” he says again, “I could trace the winding path of my ever-growing devotion, recite back every precious moment between us, talk about how wonderful you are until the sun sets tonight and rises again tomorrow morning. Or I could show you everything you need to know.”
Dean, ever a man of action, leans forward. “Okay, show me.”
Their first kiss tastes of coffee, with a spoonful of sugar and a dash of cream.
I was paired with the wonderful Attedany for a fic based on one of my favorite TSwift debut songs. They did such a great job in capturing the sweet back and forth between Cas and Dean <3
(And yes, that is a bumblebee guitar instead of a koi fish one. I'm aware it's a Speak Now guitar but it's iconic so here it is.)

I didn't realize how hard the art task was for me this time until I began to draw baby Jack hahaha baby is definitely (one of) the most difficult things to draw in the world 🤣 I tried my best to add cuteness and baby fat without making him look like a hmmm... (I cannot find the word but you understand 🤣) But at least I gave him a bee swaddle!

This is my second Destiel Reverse Bang Art masterpost! :D Whenever I do Reverse Bangs, I liked to do one canon compliant image and one that goes more into fantasy territory!
The second image was the image prompt I submitted! (Sorry about the blood, Dean~) LadyMars picked my prompt and spun a really interesting universe that brings two unlikely people together. Dean’s not really the best patient for Cas to nurse back to health, but read for yourself:
