You're really correct about Sumi. The fact that half her Showtime is with her sister instead of Ren is something that should point towards the independence of her arc, but most people are just going to see her as just another waifu to collect, which is awful.
Yep. They’d eat up the marketing hook, line, and sinker, and don’t realize that Ren is just a vehicle for her growth. He’s seen holding onto her as they swoop around on the grappling hook in both the Showtime and in some promo art for Royal, but that’s just the thing: he’s holding on to her to deliver her where she needs to go. He’s a means of conveyance, not the destination. As if this weren’t obvious enough, in the true ending all she does is offer Ren a smile and continue moving on her way.
