people in the tag getting pissed that folks are focusing on black mask and zsasz instead of the canon lgbt+ characters in the film like montoya and harley. like, dude, iâm attracted to men exclusively. chris messina and ewan mcgregor are gorgeous, so i donât know what else iâm supposed to do.
he is my mean ravenously jealous and gay son
So, Zsasz is the only character of significance that Harley doesn't give any kind of introductory rundown (not even a "name and grievance" moment) to. I realized why she neglects to mention him in any specific way when I was thinking about her "do you know what a harlequin is?" speech to Dinah.
"a harlequin serves. A master, an audience. And no one gives a fuck who we are beyond that."
She doesn't introduce Zsasz as an individual not because she doesn't know him (she does at least vaguely, and she introduces tons of people she doesn't seem to know) but because she doesn't give a fuck, just like no one gives a fuck about who she is either. Cause they're both just harlequins serving masters.

a villainous character: well, well, well... what do we have here?

like, fictional characters are created SPECIFICALLY to be entertaining and interesting. so god forbid we are entertained by and interested in them!
What is the point of tagging your hate posts. Why must you make me go through the process of blocking you.
I was worried for a moment that this sound petty but like I have enough anxiety about expressing my liking of Victor Zsasz, I donât need people yelling at me for daring to like a character. And Romanâs just fun to write. Zsasz is a reprehensible monster and Roman is a spoiled brat, and they are horrible together, and I like that dynamic. So, yeah.
i haven't lived on this planet for 34 years to feel guilty for liking a fictional character. i love one (1) murderous bastard and i won't apologize! that person in the tag made it seem like we're stanning the fucking BTK killer or something lmao
them..
they're husbands and you can't change my mind
just a sketch of the best batman villain! victor zsasz!
Roman Sionis and Victor Zsasz in Birds of Prey (2020)
DRAINING is a very good story btw. Iâm still annoyed that they chose to reprint fucking Streets of Gotham issues and that one where Zsasz calls Penguin âLittle bird man,â like, no, he doesnât talk like that, just glance back at the Alan Grant writing please⌠He created Zsasz⌠But no, yeah, DRAINING. Definitely benefits from being black and white. The panels where Zsasz is in shadows and his eyes and grin and tally marks are all a stark white⌠chef kiss. Also the brief moment he sees his mother as one of his victims? Oh man. Yet more stuff that isnât explored because DC is cowards who wonât hire me.
i actually had to put the comic down for a second after the bit about his mom. i got a little choked up about it haha⌠also was i just seeing shit that wasnât there, or did he get drawn with nipple rings in that comic? sometimes i saw it and sometimes i didnât
That for me combined with the Arkham City âas I stood on the bridge I imagined falling into the blissful arms of my motherâ was just. Ow. Underneath the scars heâs still a young man who never really dealt with losing his parents, huh? And yes, youâre right. Theyâre drawn kinda prominently on the first page, but I guess is the rest of the story thereâs just so much blood you canât see them?
and see, I wish theyâd play with that aspect of his character more in the comics because batman is EXACTLY the same, he never got over his parentsâ death either, heâs just weaponizing his grief in a completely different way and itâs fascinating to me :O
