Heartfelt Gala | Luna & Matthew
“I didn’t know what was happening!” A large sigh escaped his lips as a waiter came up to them with a tray of drinks, Matthew took four in his hand and handed two of them to Luna. It had been a long time since he had been to gala – most of the time he made some excuse to ensure he didn’t have to make an appearance at these things. It was all politics and who would vote for what item on their list – that’s what these charity galas were to him. But his mother had been nagging him on how he must be more present as a director in hopes to push the Donovan name further. “I didn’t even want to come here…”
As he finished a glass of champagne, he placed the empty one on the table and took quite large gulp of the other. “Lovegood, believe me. I would love to have more of a Cho Chang, she’s a lot more bubbly.” With a shrug of his shoulders, he let out a large sigh and looked back towards the couple they were previously with. Those two had appeared in his life more times than he had wanted to spy on him and relay the information back to his mother. Spies, pfft. How annoying that the entitled felt that they needed to know everything. “They’re sharks, the two of them. They appear into my life, ask questions about what’s going on, and report back to my mother – the wicked witch of the east.” His gaze moved towards her and he met her eyes. “Don’t ever tell her I said that.”
Another sigh leaves his lips as he quickly finishes the second glass and places it next to the lonely glass on the table. “Okay, okay, okay.” Matthew took a step towards her and placed his hand on her cheek, his thumb gently grazing her cheek. “Luna Lovegood, will you be my girlfriend for all of four hours?” A small smile danced on his lips before it erupted into a large grin. “Pretty, pretty please with a cherry on top? Also – Lovegood. Let’s be real. You are crazy about me and you do think I’m great. I look fetching in a suit, yes? I look wonderful, marvelous.” Matthew paused for a bit and his eyes moved down her gown and back up towards her. “And I guess you’re quite beautiful, too.”
These galas were less about the charities they spoke of, the causes they wish to focus on, and more about the money and status of the people attending. Luna didn’t belong, but with two drinks in her hand, she couldn’t care less. Besides, even though Matthew seemed particularly used to these sorts of things, it was obvious he didn’t really belong either. Somehow that comforted her and even amused her a little. There they were towards the back double fisting glasses of champagne while getting away from the crowd. She preferred how they were over the others.
But she rolled her eyes, feeling the embarrassment of the situation fade as she downed her first glass. Luna couldn’t imagine having someone in her life that studied her every movement. The girl didn’t have many she was close to, and even then, they never judged or cared too much of how she lived her life. That insight alone allowed Luna to become more sympathetic about the situation, understand his side more. But of course, she still had to mess with him more. “I knew there was a catch,” she told him, “whenever you invited me to go with you, I mean. I knew there had to be a catch.” She scrunched her nose but her expression softened once his hand found her cheek. She sighed. How could she say no to him? She couldn’t. A smile began to spread on her lips as he gave her the small compliment. “I know it really kills you to compliment someone other than yourself,” she joked then sighed, “yeah, yeah. I’ll be your girlfriend for the next couple of hours. But you owe me… BIG time.”

Heartfelt Gala | Luna & Matthew
The man was droning on… and on and on. It was crazy how much the director was talking towards him about implementing state of art devices in their hospital so that they could have been something more than what they were. “Yes, right. That’s marvelous, Theo. But, please. I’m part of this hospital and I’ve already put in more funds. You should be talking to everyone else out there and not… here. Tell them that we are running this for cardiac disease and they don’t have a heart if they say no.” A light chuckle left his face as the man with a determined face marched away from them. “Thank god,” he whispered to his best friend, a coy smile on his face. “I thought he’d never leave.”
As another couple came up towards them, Matthew placed on his work-face and gave them a warm smile. “Mister and Missus Sanchez – I didn’t expect to see you here. It’s been a quite a long time… My mother has been telling me to get in touch with you.” Turning towards Luna, he gave her a wide smile and places his hand on hers. “This is my girlfriend, Luna Lo—Young.” Okay, he was going to get a beating for that… but these people were close to his mother and he had assured her that he had found a nice girl to settle down with. Never gave any names, but…
“Oh, yes, she’s a nurse. She’s crazy about me, thinks I’m great and I keep telling her – she should leave Lakewood’s hospital and join me here.” With a hearty chuckle, he nodded towards the two of them and turned towards his left. “Oh, yes, I’m sorry you two. Luna, my dear, wanted to… check out the gardens in the back. We will catch up to you two soon, yes?” Flashing his million-dollar smile, he winked at the two of them and turned away from them with Luna’s hand in his.
“Don’t kill me. I can explain! … No, I can’t, Just, don’t kill me.”
It wasn’t too often Luna got to trade in her scrubs for a gown. Hell, it never really happened, in fact. And even though she isn’t the most social butterfly she enjoyed dressing up. She spent a lot of her time giving what she could to charities in the first place, so this night didn’t feel that bad – especially because Matthew was the one who dragged her along. Of course she didn’t necessarily fit in – rich folks who talk only business and money. She was nowhere near their status, and frankly, it was both strange and exciting to see Matthew in his business-like attitude. He was a different person.
For the most part, she was amused by this, watching as a man droned on and on to Matthew about something or another. Luna made it a habit to not eavesdrop in other’s conversations. But, even then, her focus was more on trying to grab a glass of wine from one of the waiters offering it. Of course they kept passing her up and she stood there internally frustrated. Then the older man left and a laugh slipped from her lips. They seemed to be getting caught in these types of situations all night. Before she could even make a comment, she made eye contact with a waiter who seemed to be coming her way just as another couple snagged Matthew to chat. Whatever, at least I’ll get my wine, she thought. But then the word girlfriend came out and she soon felt his fingers tug at her own.
Her gaze broke from the waiter as she looked back at the couple like a deer caught in the headlights. It took her a moment to be able to snap on a smile, pretend to be his girlfriend for whatever reason. She secretly shot him a look, especially as he went on about how fond she was of him. Typical. Luckily, it didn’t last too long and they were walking away from the couple.
“Next time, warn me!” she said under her breath, “Seriously, I think you just did that for your ego. She’s crazy about me, thinks I’m great. Oh, c’mon. You wish.” She snickered.

Owl to Lovegood
Longbottom: Have you noticed I changed my name from 'Matt the Gr8" on your phone to Longbottom.
Longbottom: Why you must ask? Because.
Longbottom: He got SO HOT.
Longbottom: like me :)
Longbottom: Also hi, I miss you. I haven't seen you in like, a week.
Lovegood: I almost started to ask who this was... Which is a stupid question, because who else would call themselves Longbottom. :p
Lovegood: Also, how the heck did you figure out my password to get in my phone??!
Lovegood: But, you know, I GUESS I miss you too. :)
Lovegood: Why have you been avoiding me??? Huh? Finally realized Lovegood is just TOO good for you, right? Thought so.
“No- I’m fine. Just fine.” Sophie mumbled to the person beside her. “I’m drunk, I lost my keys, and somehow I thought it would be a good decision to move back to the one place I swore never to return to. Thank you for asking though.”
Despite the girl’s words, she wasn’t fine. Luna could sympathize with the girl for many reasons. She often thought what it would be like if she moved back to her home. The thought alone made Luna want to help the stranger. “Look, I don’t mean to bug you, but let me give you a hand. Want me to help you find your keys or give you a ride?”
“There’s a what?” Luna asked once she tore her gaze away from her book. She glanced down at her coffee right as she lifted it to her lips to take a sip and noticed the bug. Setting the cup down quickly, it tipped over and the coffee spread across the table and her lap. “Jesus,” she mumbled and sighed, realizing sitting outside was a mistake. She looked over at the man embarrassed. “Um, do you have any napkins over there?”
Ade glanced up from the book he was reading, his gaze shifting to the person hovering over his table. He’d been sat in rePUBLIC for the last hour or so, trying to unwind before he headed home – today’s school run had been particularly horrible. “If you want to sit down, you can just ask, you know,” he commented, light smile on his features. “I don’t bite.”
What she had planned on being a short stop for coffee appeared to be anything but short. The café was crowded, people scattered around the room and leaving Luna there to simply gaze helplessly for an empty seat. Whenever her eyes landed on the nearest one, she realized it was next to a man who appeared to be there alone. Would that be too weird to ask him to sit? What if he specifically sat there to get away from others? Just as Luna was ready to walk away, he spoke up. “Oh… I was going to, but,” she hesitated and smiled softly, “sorry, is it okay if I sit?”
"Be the change you want to see in the world."
“You’re my new favorite person,” she said firmly, turning the to face the blonde with a small smile on her lips. “Coffee is exactly what I could need right now, and yes I’ve been here all night. I don’t actually remember how long I’ve been here now actually. How’re you?”
A small smile spread on her lips, pleased to see she gave the girl some sort of happiness. It was always the little things around here that seemed to help give doctors and nurses the push they need. “Coffee fixes is all,” she said with a chuckle, fully believing her statement. “I’m good – tired, too. It’s been a long shift. It’s hard to keep track of time around here.” She crossed her arms and took a sip of her own coffee. “I even considered taking a nap on my break, but… Coffee sounded like a better idea.”

The buzz of her morning coffee was beginning to die down and she could feel the sleep in her eyes beginning to take over. Yet, there she was still trekking through the halls and tending to her patients. It took a lot to bring Luna down, and sleep was something she was used to going on without. As she leaned against the counter of one of the nurse’s station, a fellow nurse came by with a clipboard with Luna’s new patient’s info displayed on it. Too tired to read it just yet, Luna wandered over into the room and glanced down at the sheet. That’s when she read his name – Scott Galloway. And suddenly, she felt awake. Luna glanced up at him and let out a long sigh at the sight of yet another injury. “Got yourself into trouble again?”
@matthew-donovan
“Okay, so I might be busy sorting through all these fucking files, but don’t just stand there— it’s creeping me out. If you tell me what you’re here for, I might be able to point you in the right direction. Let me guess, you want an update on a patient? Or you’re here to save your own soul by doing charity work? Nothing looks better than volunteering at a hospital…”
Luna’s eyebrows rose, though she wasn’t too surprised by her words. “Um neither,” she told her and held up a cup of coffee, “I was in the break room and thought you could use some coffee. I feel like you’ve been here all night.”
Now that the town was on its way back to normal Liam had thrown himself into work and was spending practically every day at the record store. Today was no exception and he was busy sorting stock when he heard the bell above the door jingle. “Hey, good morning,” he said, not bothering to turn around just yet.
“Mornin’,” she called out as she wandered into the store she knew all too well. It had been a while since she’s been able to stop by – with the storm and her double shifts, and all. She walked over to the aisle where the familiar clerk stood. She glanced up and casually asked, “Got anything new?”
@myoldheart
“We’re in desperate need of warm clothes as well toiletries,” Porter said, standing behind a table loaded down with donations. Since the storm had ended, there were quite a few people in need of assistance and he had chosen to use his mornings to volunteer before work. “For the most part, there have been a lot of donations for the children – shoes, clothes, and toys – but we don’t have much in the way of toiletries. Whatever you can donate, though, would be greatly appreciated. These people just need help getting back on their feet.”
The chaotic aftermath of the storm had kept Luna constantly on her toes. She was working endlessly, tending to patients who were affected by the storm, all the while spending her free time helping to clean up the town. Now, here she was ready to give what she had to those who needed it, something Luna did quite often. She was always the type to give the shirt off her back to someone in need. With a large box in her arms full of various supplies, she nodded as he listed off what they were lacking. “Okay, I have some toiletries in here, along with some clothes and other necessities.” She set the box down and wiped her hands on the back of her jeans. “I was thinking about running to the store to pick up some more things. I’ll get more toiletries. Need me to get anything else? I’d be more than happy to.”
