I appreciate people who talk honestly about friendship as seriously as other relationships. When i was young I thought friendship should be easy it should take no work LOL forced proximity ≠ friend when you’re an adult. It requires work to be maintained it’s a bond that requires effort when you’re two people with your own lives and problems and the only thing you gain from the relationship is platonic connection. One of my now closest friends I met in 2022. Our relationship required work immediately after a miscommunication. It required us to decide if having an uncomfortable conversation was worth the potential of our friendship. I’m so glad we did because I feel like I found a friend that really gets me. Not every relationship looks the same, and it’s ok for them to require different levels of maintenance. Our connection has added a lot to my life and it truly feels like it was meant to be. Work is worth it
