Overheard on Campus:
A tall muscular undergrad walking purposely toward the English building, talking on the phone in a loud, assertive voice: I’m gunna kill it! I’m prepared! I’m confident! I’m ready! I believe in myself! After a moment of silence, in a much quieter voice: Yeah, thanks, mom. That helped. I’ll call you after and let you know how it goes. Love you.
In need of help from a native/advanced russian speaker to correct some translations. Please help a poor girl out!!
Study Time.
For the times where you feel like you need motivation to study, Change things up.
🍵 : Drink some tea while studying or maybe have a fiber bar. Give your brain the energy it needs, especially if it’s a late night of studying.
🍵 : Throw on a cozy sweater or fuzzy socks. You might as well get comfy while getting the knowledge you need!
🍵 : Listen to some music without lyrics that’s calming or maybe before studying, listen to some of your favorite songs to get in the mood to study.
🍵 : If you’ve been studying for quite a while, Get up and move your legs and arms. Stretch your body and what not. Sitting at a desk studying for long periods of time can cause strain on your neck and make your body sore so it’s best to get up once in a while to stretch.
🍵 : Take a 20 - 25 minute nap and once you wake up, Drink some caffeine to wake your brain up.
🍵 : If the subject you’re studying is boring you and you’re finding it difficult to follow along, Find different ways to study it. Such as flash cards, a study game online and other things like that! Make it more interesting and fun in your own way.
🍵 : Take some deep breaths if you’re feeling anxious about it. Trust in yourself that you’ll work hard. Nothing is impossible, Apply that to this. Getting good grades is not impossible, studying hard is not impossible.
🍵 : If you can’t seem to focus, Write down everything going through your mind so you can clear your thoughts out. Perhaps even meditate so you can really clear out your thoughts.
🍵 : After a long night of studying and reading, Treat yourself because why not? You’ve been working hard. Perhaps try throwing on a face mask, do your nails and watch your favorite film or tv show and have a small treat.
Stay strong, take care! 💞

7 Tips for Overcoming Feelings of Inadequacy
1. Remind yourself that you are not who other people think or say you are.
2. Remind yourself that everybody makes mistakes at times, has areas of weakness, and things they want to change.
3. Remind yourself of ways in which you’ve grown and changed with time. You’re not who you once were - so celebrate how far you’ve come.
4. Also, the ending isn’t written and the future isn’t fixed. You’re free to change your image, and an old identity.
5. Identify the lies you have believed about yourself – and work on changing them so they’re more accurate and true. Also, don’t reinforce those lies by acting like you think they’re true.
6. Remember that your feelings are not the same as facts. Don’t live based on your feelings … as that will keep you trapped.
7. Hang out with those who see, and who appreciate, your worth. And take their words to heart, and let them help to build you up.
Reminder that not every day is your day. Even though today was rough, there is a new, blank sheet tomorrow. Let’s try again!
Current situation: sat at my kitchen table in my pyjamas, a purring cat on my lap, Finnish grammar books open before me, Finnish folk rock playing through my headphones, armed with a rainbow of coloured pens and a mug of caffeine as I study. My house is tidy, I have no other commitments today, my phone is in another room and I feel totally at peace.
Concept: I sit down to write. I am productive. I do not procrastinate on the internet. I meet my word-goal. I eat only healthy snacks. I do not cry.
My self care box didn’t arrive, a little disappointing but hopefully tomorrow. Still, I’ve had a relaxing day taking a bubble bath, doing a facemask, watching suits + ordering takeaway Vietnamese food. I’m now doing some pre-reading and highlighting ☁️
