My November started with a BANG! I got a chance to watch the most successful UK reality show ever! (okay a tad exaggeration there but you guys know what I mean!) I got a chance to watch the X FACTOR LIVE! this is the UK one… the ORIGINAL one!!!
its week 5 performance night and the theme was "No.1s" songs that went to number 1!
How awesome is that right?!
so here are my guides along side my Ts on watching the show LIVE!
visit the site, register and hope for the best- you don't always get pick, a bit like a lottery ( i really don't know the specifics about this one coz its my partner who did all of this…so that might be another Tip for you? ASK SOMEONE TO DO IT.)
As you all know (UK Residents) our TFL (Transport for London) cannot be trusted…closures and delays are to expect so ALWAYS check their website and think of other alternatives for your journey to the FOUNTAIN STUDIOS at Wembley Park. (NOTE: THE STUDIO IS NOT AT THE WEMBLEY STADIUM)
our journey to the location is so tragic, we had to change different tubes and trains because of so many engineering works! plus on top of that...15 minute walk! can you imagine?! we live at South West so we really TRAVELLED!
upon receiving the e ticket you will be advised about the dress code. according to it we are "required" to wear glittery and glamorous for the event… so we have to serve "Primetime-TV-audience-REALNESS"! in the beginning we were stressing about it but as the days went we just decided to wear suits to be safe…and lo and behold… WE WERE OKAY…not overdressed nor underdressed but an obvious Shirt and Jeans ensemble could have just been accepted.
we failed to wear thick jackets so remember to wear some for you will be standing their for a LONG time and i mean LONGGGGGGGG TIME. we heard people being their already as early as 7am just to be the first in line! more on the waiting on my later tips… over all its safe to say that you should wear DESCENT, COMFORTABLE probably SMART CASUAL clothes and shoes.
p.s leave your bags at home to avoid tedious inspections!
make sure you EAT. this is important…you don't want to leave your queue right? but for those who EAT and still get hungry…there are couple of shops and McDonalds is just right down the corner.
we survive with HARIBOS and Crisps.
5. HOT DRINKS AND SWEETS IS A MUST!
For you will be standing in queue and will be freezing (pray it won't rain…we are lucky it didn't) its always nice too have hot drinks to fight the cold and sweets to keep your sugar up.
6. BE EARLY (WELL NOT REALLY)
as i have mentioned earlier we heard and met the people who queued as early as 7am! Yes this can be very beneficial for sured (standby) seats are possible but cmon… will you be really devoting your whole saturday or sunday for this? well not for me. we arrived 2 hours early for the show, just the perfect time-thinking that at least we won't be waiting for that long, we are way at the back and during this time i was confident that we can still have seats …until I heard the announcement.
7. READ CAREFULLY YOUR ETICKET.
the eticket will tell you all you need to know from location, dress code, what to expect EVEN THE TYPE OF TICKET YOU HAVE! (Priority and Standby) We failed to understand the type of eticket we posses, we were overwhelmed by the idea
that we are going to see the LIVE SHOWS. our eticket is actually a STANDBY so when the audience coordinator approached us and made the announcement (That there is no guaranteed seats) imagine my HORROR! so yes even if you receive the confirmation don't get too excited because there is a STRONG chance that you won't get in!
one needs to be sociable…it helps to make your situation bearable… and it will be interesting coz all of you are X FACTOR fans. we are lucky we met some nice people from down south of england! (there are people from scotland who travelled just to see the show!)
9. MAKE SURE TO GET INSIDE.
well pray… and hope for the best coz even if you are done with the queueing, meaning you are already at the DOOR...there is still no guarantee!
10. WHEN INSIDE, DONT GET YOUR HOPES UP
inside means= passed the door, at the black back drop. you will know you are in, OFFICIALLY once you are seated! in addition you might not be seated together if you are with someone. they keep on filling spaces so be prepare to split!
12. GET AS MUCH PICTURE AS YOU CAN
and I mean as much as you can-once in a lifetime chance so why not right?… don't worry about the guards this is a LIVE SHOW they won't chuck you out! i manage to take a blur picture of CAROLYNNE FLACK's bum! huh!
being a former media practitioner, I can't help but look around- how things work and be critical on some of the aspects. It made me miss more my former "life".
