💛 slime mold plasmodium 💛

slime molds normally live as single cell organisms within a substrate, breaking down rotting vegetation and consuming bacteria, fungi, and yeasts. but when food is scarce and the conditions are right they send out a chemical signal which causes them to congregate together and merge into a mass of plasmodium. the slime mold moves, consumes, and disperses as plasmodium until it finds a suitable place to form fruit bodies and send out its spores.

Sorry to everyone who was following from before I'm recently unemployed and am going to be posting more of my nature photos in the near future here! Stay tuned! <3 Wolf's Milk Slime Mold, Found in Harrison Hot Springs B.C. Canada. Ive been watching it for a couple days now as its morphed from bright pink, into faded orange and eventually into brownish/black textured bubbles. This photo shows almost its entire life in its stages. Very neat! #Fungifam 🍄🍄🍄
