Opinion/Rant: Nouman Ali Khan

So I don’t post a lot anymore but I had to write about this. I’ve been a huge fan of NAK, HUGE. His videos and lectures have had a such a defining effect on my life, and helped me change perspectives and understand my religion a little better, his videos were incredibly helpful to me back in 2012 and for that I shall forever be grateful.

Now onto the recent news: I’m not taking any sides but one thing that is ticking me off big time is the use of the word victim.  

From what I’ve seen so far, all the current evidence i.e it seemed that NAK was flirting with those girls, but it seemed to be consensual. 

It was a conversation happening between a man and a woman, it wasn’t really ‘predatory’. Again, this is ONLY based on the evidence I have seen so far.

And also, those turning blind, that is also wrong, NAK is human, he isn’t perfect. He can make mistakes too. But I urge you all to not form opinions, to not give either party hate and to not add spice to this fueling fire.  So just wait and see.

NUMBERS!

The internet is so much more demanding than it used to be. I remember, how I didn't care about numbers but now since everyone is talking about numbers; Followers, subscribers, likes, views, retweets, favourites, thumbs up, thumbs down, upvotes and downvotes, notes and reblogs, it's taken a toll on me, in a way, that hasn't made me obsessed with numbers but it has given me a definitive goal that I should be working towards, because now it seems inadequate to just post for the sake of posting, you have to think about how well a certain product is gonna do when you launch it, so many things go into consideration when you hit 'post' or 'add'.

Every artist I see has multiple links beneath their captions, linking to their multiple social accounts because it's become necessary, because they want their voice to be heard by everyone, to reach a larger audience and to do that you need to cast a wider net. A smaller one will get you some fish, maybe enough fish to satisfy your appetite, but a larger net will get you enough fish that will last longer, enough fish so that you can share it with other people, enough fish so you don't just have to fry it, you could make a stew or a steak or anything because now you have enough fish to do whatever. (This is a metaphor, if you’re confused.)

This seems like an aimless rant, which is mostly true but this mess of words has so much more meaning when you know what my thoughts are, and where this stems from. As David Foster Wallace once said: “How odd I can have all this inside me and to you it’s just words.”

Inspiration and Now:

I'm thinking. Or to be more accurate, I'm trying to think. See I'm thinking from a place of need but I'd rather be thinking from a place of inspiration. Inspiration is lacking. There are uncountable 'inspiring' things around me but they dont rouse my inspiration. I’m imagining stars. A canopy of these sparkling spheres that we represent as a 5 spiked circle but the reality couldn’t be more different, the reality is astounding. These ginormous balls of gases millions of light years away peek through the night sky ever so humbly, only revealing a little of luminescence. If only we were as humble as them.

I have this thing of being distracted by the now. Now. Is this not the most temporary of all the 'times' we experience? We yearn for the past, we hope and dream for the future but we take the 'now', the 'present' so for granted. I’m acknowledging the now. I’m acknowledging that I need inspiration right now and I hope that I do find it, if not now then soon.

Foot vehicles: You’re walking. Unaware of your surroundings, but you, oh you keep on walking. Until you stop because someone started talking to you about shoes. And sure enough you look down at your own shoes and wonder at the amazement of these foot vehicles. You look up and spot a car, a larger vehicle, this however was a vehicle for whole humans, not just their feet and then you wonder at the amazement of this vehicle, you go closer to it, to appreciate it even more and then you see it dotted by rain drops and then you take a picture, to remember the conversation you had about foot vehicles.

‘’SHIAS ARE NOT MUSLIM’’

I’ve read so many comments saying this exact same thing and it makes me so sad. First of all, I do not like that we have sects in Islam, but that’s another thing. The fundamental beliefs of Shias and Sunnis are the same. That makes both Shias and Sunnis Muslim. It is as simple as that. I don’t know why they both hate each other so much. Why are you focused on fighting over small details rather than seeing the big picture? Why would you rather hate than empathize with each other? Live and let live. Hating is the worst thing you can do. All of us need to be more tolerant towards people of other sects and other religions as well. Please.

Farewell, Shahid Afridi.

So Shahid Afridi is retiring and it made me sad enough to write a blogpost.

He has been my all time favourite cricket player ever since I was a little kid, and whenever someone asked me why I liked him I would say: ‘’Woh chakkay marta hai’’ (He hits sixes) And I also used to call him ‘’Chakkay marnay wala’

He holds the record for hitting the longest 6 in cricket history, that ain’t no joke. He’s made us win so many times and he’s made people really happy and I’m sad to see him go, watching cricket will not be the same without him.

^ Oh and he always had fabulous hair.

I feel like we're all thinking/wondering less and relying more and more on Google. Sure it's convenient and all, but googling the simplest of things when you are clearly capable of coming up with an answer yourself, is just being lazy. So next time you have a question or something, wonder without google! (If you don't get an answer, proceed to google it. ^^)

Happy New Year everyone! I hope and pray that 2015 brings everyone out there happiness and success and I hope that you find what you've been looking for Ameen. Note: I've been reading a lot of posts saying that we shouldn't be happy and that we should be mourning for what happened in Peshawar. To each their own, but honestly, there are plenty of ways people mourn. Maybe some people pray everyday for those effected by the Peshawar attack, maybe some people post things on social media describing their sadness etc. So don't be judgmental, being sad is not the answer. With that said, spread as much love and joy around you as you possibly can and stop criticizing every darn thing. Peace! x

A planned terrorist attack on a school.  And most of the martyrs?  Children. 100's of children were killed today. Why? Because these psycho/sociopaths have their Jannah Certificates in hand, what else could they possibly need? So they go on killing sprees just for the sake of it. A woman not wearing a headscarf? Kill her. Children getting education? Intolerable, they must all be killed. This is the world we live in, Astugfirullah. Pray for these people, pray for their hidayat.  Pray for the lives lost today, pray for their families and pray for humanity. May Allah (S.W.T) keep us all safe, and May He protect us all and give strength to everyone effected and May He bless the departed souls Ameen.

Ok, I've had enough.

First of all, this has got nothing to do with politics. I am sick and tired of all the jokes on Bilawal Bhutto, mostly because of what those jokes are and also because I feel bad for the poor guy. What jokes, you ask? Here is an example:

And these are just a few examples. I can't even explain how angry and tired I am. I hate jokes that degrade other people, people who are kind of different from the ''norm''. (because who cares that we're all humans at the end of the day.) Transgenders or eunuchs or gay people are a part of our society, they're a part of the world and making fun of other people at the expense of these  fellow beings is just plain wrong, and it isn't funny. No one asks to be made a certain way, biology is a weird thing and sometimes its not biology, sometimes you're forced into a lifestyle you never wanted.  Stop making these ignorant jokes on Bilawal, because it is highly disrespectful to the communities involved in these jokes. Stop it, it's disgusting. Everyone needs to be more tolerant and get out of this false impression of superiority.  Now onto Bilawal, if he hasn't given a single statement stating what he is you have absolutely no right to put labels onto him, he currently identifies himself as a male so that is what he is. Not every male who has a higher pitched voice or talks with an accent is a girl or transgender or gay. Does that even make sense? Really? You're basing your assumptions on such minor and silly cues. All you bullies need to shut up.
