Watching TikTok try and rewrite fandom history by saying fandom culture was created by teenage girls makes me eye twitch to an extent I’ve never felt it twitch before. The middle aged women printing out Spirk erotica to share with each other in the 1900s did not die for this!!!! How dare you erase our important historic moments!!! You would be nowhere without the 30 year old women who dedicated their free time to making these spaces happen. Put some respect on their names!!!!
This is an awesome use of what is probably a master's degree if not a doctorate and I am 100% thrilled that she shared it even though it was embarrassing and she squeaked.
this is so useful I'm doing it 100% and I don't care about the old men staring at me
just sharing this tweet in case it helps somebody
They are real! And only 5 days before the end of the campaign.
There are the link if you are interested! (you can find both in it)
Will it reach 100%? I don't know but I hope :)
Do you wonder how much a pigeon can bounce and how round it is? Well, good news! You now can have your own bouncy pigeon! And not only that,
What is Queso saying?
I’m less of a “how do we teach boys and men to gain consent from their sexual partners” kind of fun feminist and more of a nihilistic party ruining “let’s talk about if women are even able to grant meaningful consent in their current social status” bog hag kind of feminist
A French online survey with 100,000 respondents showed that 70% of women had had unwanted sex without coercion from their partners. Women are taught that female sexuality is “passive” and sex is about responding to your partner’s desires while ignoring yours.
“Consenting” means “agreeing to do something”. It says nothing about whether or not you want to do said thing. The women surveyed did consent. Sex shouldn’t be “consensual”, it should be wanted/desired.
Honestly? My main piece of advice for writing well-rounded characters is to make them a little bit lame. No real living person is 100% cool and suave 100% of the time. Everyone's a little awkward sometimes, or gets too excited about something goofy, or has a silly fear, or laughs about stupid things. Being a bit of a loser is an incurable part of the human condition. Utilize that in your writing.
Choose your online engagement.

I read a book by anthony bourdain a long time ago, it had this whole chapter dedicated to basically excusing male chef bro culture in a kitchen (like hazing through calling each other homophobic and misogynistic things and being general pieces of shit to women to maintain the guys club). i've read statements from him admitting that he 100% participated in being a misogynistic piece of shit and creating a toxic work environment for female chefs. he gave several half ass 'sorry for being too macho' apologies (or reflections i guess, since i don't think he ever apologized to a single woman). he got away with all of it and everyone treats him like some kind of saint. i wonder how many women's careers he helped sabotage and how much sexual harassment and assault he ignored or participated in. just like guy fieri. hope he is rotting in hell
I have read that book and yeah, it really crushed me. I loved his work and it disappointed me a lot. And now being a woman in the food industry, I hate how much misogyny and disgusting remarks I hear in the kitchen. As I said, men get famous and get high paying jobs for cooking. Women are expected to cook, and to do it at home. They are not to be recognized or praised for the work we do.
I never understood why people loved Anthony Bourdain so much. He always had a kind of superior aloofness when he talked to locals. Like the words were friendly but the tone and body language was like “🙄 Ug shut uuuuuup when can I get back to my hotel room?”
I remember before I got into radfem spaces every time I tried to critique anyone or anything for not being feminist or even for giving me a weird feeling I would get a immediate "no actually that's fine like that it's actually super feminist!" By women and men alike.
One time I had watched a episode of Anthony Bourdain and he was in some contry where women are not allowed to eat at the same table as men. I expected him to say something or do something, he is a tourist after all, wouldn't it be super normal to just ask that everyone eat together? But he just mentioned it, said "take the culture where you are" and that was it.
I'm sure there were different times as well where he would point out how shitty women are treated and then act the very same way as the men. I also remember being very uncomfortable when he was in Japan one of multiple times and decided to do "interviews" and eat with fetish prostitutes. And he does always feel the need to make some kind of "funny" comment when it's a contry with a lot of trafficking, prostitution and men buying wives.
When I brought it up in a conversation about him I was told "Well what was he supposed to do?"(about the women not being allowed at the table) and "That's their culture though". I was also told that "Actually Bourdain apologized for acting like a pig in former kitchens" meanwhile I'm sitting there like this is his show though, not his kitchen?
