With just her bag to fetch, Minako was right out the door with her fellow blond by her side. Fancy that, huh? She had to wonder if, perhaps, they did that intentionally. Either way it was a happy coincidence.
Out of the apartment complex and into the streets, she answered his questions.
"A fast food place, specifically! People come in and park in these neat parking spaces that have menus and intercoms attached? So they can give their orders. It’s a drive-in, and customers eat in their cars; they’re pretty big in the West I heard, so it’s really cool that this place has one." She nodded.
"This government wants everyone to be employed so I sort of just jumped at the chance, y’know? But at least I get to be on roller skates~ Helps the servers get to all the cars faster. And it’s super fun!" Perhaps the only thing that kept her from lamenting about work was that aspect of the job. Other than that, it was a bummer to both work and go to school at the same time.
Another good thing was that the grocer was a hop, skip, and a jump from their apartment building. The sooner she picked up supper, the sooner they could eat. “Mm, but I’ve been talking about myself a lot.” Minako smiled at the boy, “Let’s hear about you~?”
With the door shut behind them, the two disembarked on their very short distance to the grocery store. It was a bit of a magical experience for the younger, eyes dazzled by the lights and business he wasn't used to having right outside his home. He was sure that at some point this would cause him annoyance rather than wonder, but that cultural shock hasn't hit him quite yet.
"They drive in...?" Driving his attention away from the walkways and back to the person beside him, he questioned the odd occurrence. "Like a parking lot? Then, where's the kitchen?" The scene was imagined easily from her description, minus a few details, and it had him intrigued. "That sounds like fun! You'd have to be good at skating to do that, or you might spill all the food."
Having 'jumped at the chance' because of the government's laws had been the exact reason he took on the challenge of working while he attended school, as well. "I work at an ice cream shop. I've never worked before now, but ice cream is my second favourite food, so now I get lots and lots of it, for free! ~ Ehehe," The brief remembrance of certain friends scolding him for his eating habits crossed his mind, but were swept away quite fast. "But I really like to swim. We had a swimming club back at my old school."
Ahead of them stood the entrance to the grocery store -- and the automatic doors slid open with ease, leading them directly to the shopping carts. Quick to grab one, spin it around, hop on the back and push himself forward, he hopped off once by the side of his parental guardian and drummed his fingers against the bar, ready and willing to drive it around the store. "What's on the menu, Mama?"
