Shunsui smiled at the kidâs enthusiasm, and he kept on smiling as he followed her towards the cart. He gave the menu a quick once-over as she placed her order, marveling at the kinds of things the humans in this little corner of the world came up with to entertain their unusual tastes.
Shunsui shrugged as the kid talked about sweets, trying his best to consider her question and to watch what the dude behind the cart was doing as he whipped up the funnel cake that she had asked for. âEh,â he said, shrugging again. âI mean, I like booze, but thatâs no big secret. And Iâm not so sure that booze and roller coasters go well together anyway.â He glanced about himself, taking in the dozens and dozens of stalls and carts with food and other wares available for purchase. âThat looks pretty interesting,â Shunsui said, nodding to a passerby carrying a giant, fluffy, pink wad of something on a cone. âI wonder what the heck it is.â
But before Shunsui could consider this particular mystery much farther, the dude behind the cart called out, and handed Hinamori a heaping plate of what looked like fried, stringy-shaped dough. Shunsui cocked his head to the side, more than a little intrigued. âWow,â was all he could think to say.
The kid looked all bright and eager as she presented Shunsui with the funnel cake. Shunsui eyed the weird-looking, sweet-smelling thing, and again, he shrugged. âWell,â he said, reaching out one hand to tear one, little string of dough away from the pile, âit would be a bummer not to at least try something new, right?â He popped the dough into his mouth, and instantly scowled. It was stupidly sweet. It was as if a bomb made of molten sugar had gone off inside of Shunsuiâs mouth, and he didnât like it one bit. âUgh,â he managed, when he finally swallowed. He forced a sickly smile, and shook his head in the kidâs general direction. âNope,â he told her. âNot for me. You enjoy that thing, though, Hinamori-chan - I betcha itâll be right up your alley.â
He glanced about himself, still pretty amazed by all of the colorful sights and copious sounds of the amusement park. âThereâs a bench over there,â Shunsui offered, pointing. âWe can take a seat while you finish that up, and then make a plan for the afternoon from there. Howâs that sound, Hinamori-chan?â
She couldnât help but give a small giggle as she watched him eat the cake, obviously not liking the flavor. With that in mind she took a piece for herself as he pointed at the bench before nodding with a mouth full of the sweet dough. It was absolutely delicious, and she quickly understood why someone who didnât particularly like sweets would find this appalling.Â
The sweetened dough was all she could think about as she walked towards the bench to make herself comfortable, waiting for the Captain to join her.Â
âNo I donât think sake would be particularly good especially if we plan on riding another one of those coaster things. Iâm sorry you donât like this sweet cake. Iâm sure, if you wanted me to, I could find something around here that isnât sweet. There has to be something here....humans arenât that unhealthy to only eat overly sweet cakes are they?â
Taking another sweet bite, she couldnât help but hum at the delicious burst of flavor in her mouth while looking around at the random rides and stands.
âEverything looks so incredible I donât even know where we should go next. If I were a human I would be here every day just enjoying the sights and sounds of the park. I donât know how these humans continue with their jobs and arenât all obese......especially with these snacks. Its almost too sweet for me.....almostâ She smiled, taking another bite.Â
