Lo siento, pero lo que hicieron con Jay me rompe el corazón. Tomaron a un personaje que ya tenía muy pocas apariciones y lo sacaron deliberadamente de la continuidad, dejándolo prácticamente en el limbo. Pueden decir que tienen grandes planes para él, pueden prometer que su momento llegará, pero ¿cómo se supone que confíe si nunca veo esos resultados reflejados en las historias?Lo que más duele es el contraste. Los personajes que lo lastimaron tienen la oportunidad de sanar, avanzar y recibir desarrollo. Ellos encuentran cierre y nuevas oportunidades. Jay, en cambio, parece quedarse atrás, como si su historia pudiera esperar indefinidamente.Y entonces surge una pregunta imposible de ignorar: ¿de verdad las historias sobre la colonización, sobre personajes no blancos y sobre el sufrimiento de comunidades enteras pueden dejarse de lado sin problema? ¿No merecen la misma urgencia, el mismo cuidado y la misma prioridad que otras narrativas? Como lector, la sensación que queda es devastadora. Es sentir que una historia importante fue apartada, que un personaje con un enorme potencial fue silenciado y que su dolor simplemente no importa lo suficiente como para ocupar un lugar en la continuidad. Y eso resulta profundamente frustrante y decepcionante.

Al final es una editorial para blancos, que podía esperar...

Do you have thoughts about what absolute jay would be like 👀

So the thing about the Absolute line is that the premise is basically "its the same character, but you remove something fundamental about their backstory, and see what happens". So I had to think for awhile on what that thing would be to best explore Jay's usual themes while still doing something different, and then it hit me:

Absolute Jay is a Jay who never escaped the experiments. The book/miniseries could then focus around him breaking free of all that in more detail and what a Jay who became a weapon would look like.

No revolutionaries. no escape. Absolute Liberator.

if you're doing a fan redesign of (mainline) jay nakamura, you gotta keep the element where he looks like a male bird. the vibrant colors are the whole point. you can absolutely choose more pleasing ones if you're not a fan of the oranges and greens, but he must be visible from space or you've done it incorrectly. and im not kidding to be clear

huge huge huge thematic element of jay's story is hyper visibility and how he both uses that as a tool for justice AND how it marginalizes him even amongst his peers. he doesn't get to hide away, there is no 'closet' for him to go back in. he is marked as Other from the moment of the trauma bendix inflicted on him. and he wears that proudly
