Your eyes flutter open to reveal dark metal bars above you, along with the blinding, cool-toned, bright-white light coming from the ceiling of the huge room.
You sit up with your back stiff from the tiny, uncomfortable, spring mattress.
Your eyes scan the room slowly, seeing a ton of other people in all of the same clothes. An ugly, blue-ish-green tracksuit.
You look down to see that you're wearing the same thing, and on your chest reads the number 168.
168.
The same number that was on the business card. Did they make a new number for each individual player here? Or was it just a coincidence? You think to yourself.
The doors at the front of the huge 'bedroom' or 'dormitory' open with a loud alarm sound.
Guards in the same ugly pink suits walk in with the same odd masks as the guy who was driving the black van that picked you up.
You listen closely as they welcome you and extend a greeting to all the other people in the room before hearing a few of the other players ask stupid ass questions.(According to you)
"Did you kidnap us and bring us here?"
"Did you change me into this?"
"Where are my belongings?"
"If you scuff my shoes you'll have to compensate! Those were fucking limited-edition!"
Your eyes roll so far back into your head you swear they'll get stuck. Could these questions seriously get any dumber?
"I need my phone back just for a second! I need to check the crypto market!"
'Oh my fucking god apparently they can.'
You think to yourself in annoyance.
"Can you guys shut the fuck up so they can explain what we're doing here? Jesus Christ.."
You yell down at them from your bunk bed, letting the thin line of a temper you have get the best of you.
Everyone goes silent before the guards finish explaining what's going on. Playing videos on the projector-thing of some players playing against the business man and getting slapped.
"So that's what would've happened if I agreed to play with that business guy? Jeez, glad I passed.."
You mutter under your breath to yourself.
You catch a familiar face flash on the screen. A purple-haired man that always hung around Club Pentagon with your boyfriend. Sometimes he would even do gigs.
With his face on the screen, you hear the number of 1.8 billion won in debt.
Jesus Christ. 1.8 billion?? He didn't make much from gigs apparently. You thought he was pretty famous, at least around your area. He was on a really popular rap show, so you thought he'd at least be a little well off.
After the guards finish explaining and going through the rules, etc. They tell all of the players to come line up at the front of the room and sign the consent form if they want to participate in the games.
As you step in and take your spot in one of the long lines at the front of the room, you can't help but think about what they mean by 'games.'
You're lost in thought when an idea suddenly pops into your mind. The password for entrance into the van.
Could you be playing red-light green-light as the first game then?
It shouldn't be too hard for you, you're fairly thin and you're good at exercise and physical activities, considering how much strength and stamina it takes to be a pole-dancer. There have been times you've done 3-hour shifts at the club with no break. This should be easy for you.
As you get to the consent form, you don't even bother reading it. You've never really cared to read stuff like that, whether you were signing up for a subscription or the long list of side-affects on your birth control.
You sign your name with some-what fancy handwriting that's a little on the messier side.

You hand the signed form back to the pink-suited guard and make your way out of line and back to your uncomfortable metal bunk bed.
As you're walking back to your bunk, you see two men almost interrogating another, shorter guy.
You recognize one of the men as the purple-haired guy that they showed on screen, also know as 'The legend Thanos.'
Or as you know him, Choi Su-bong.
You can't see the slightly shorter guy next to him due to all of the people who are standing in line, blocking your line of view. But you know him well enough when you hear his voice.
Nam-Gyu. Your boyfriend.
You try to stand on your toes to get a better look at them over the lines of people, but you're knocked down by a girl around the same height as you.
"Oh, sorry, I didn't mean to knock you down."
The dark-haired girl with silvery-metal piercings apologizes as she bends down slightly and lends you her hand to help you get back up off of the cold cement flooring.
"It's okay, I was in your way. I'm Jia, you?"
You respond, hoping to make a friend in this odd place. Though odd would be an understatement.
"Se-mi. Nice to meet you, I like your bridge piercing. I've been looking to get one for awhile but uh, not exactly financially stable enough at the moment considering I ended up here."
You laugh at her teasing joke, nodding in thanks before you guys walk up back to your bunk area.
After a few minutes of silence, the dark-haired girl speaks up again.
"What were you doing when you were standing over there by the way?"
She asks, referring to when you were trying to see over the lines of people.
"Oh, I think my boyfriend was one of the guys who were causing a scene.."
You reply to her, slightly embarrassed at your boyfriend's actions earlier.
"Ohhh, makes sense. How'd you guys end up here if you don't mind me asking?"
"I'm struggling with my rent and expenses due to student-loans from a bit ago. I had to drop out of college after the first semester due to insufficient funding and debts."
You answer before pausing,
"I'm not sure why he's here though.. he's one of the top managers of the club I work at. That's how we met. I didn't know he was struggling.."
"Maybe you should talk to him."
Se-mi advises.
"I'll try talking to him later, I'm not sure I want to right now before we know what exactly is going on."
"Good point, we should probably figure that out first."
She laughs before the guards are starting to usher and call people to follow them out of the dorm room.
