The schedule for the 2026 Speedathon has dropped! All times are in EDT.
Make sure to mark it all on your calendar, and we'll see you then!
All of the “Games in Order” graphics are made and ready to post, so I have a request from you so I can begin working on my next series. Send me a game and a color and I’ll do my best to make an aesthetic for it happen.
so i've been making spotify playlists (yes i know booo spotify) for every single nancy drew game, how do we feel about me just posting all of them here in order...
top ten sources of terminal secondhand embarrassment: nancy's delivery when she asks jacques, "did you come to wisconsin for the cheese?"
Lani Minella is absolutely everywhere. No matter where I go, I hear her talking to me when I play games. She voiced everyone. Rogue the Bat in Sonic Adventure 2. Ivy in Soul Calibur. I was just playing some Diablo, doing the mushroom quest for Adria the Witch. And I was like "is it her also". Yes. Yes it is. She was in illbleed. She is the voice of Nancy Drew. Absolutely astounded. How come she was in so many things.
Every single time I find some weird obscure game from the 90s or 2000s that no one is talking about, she's probably voicing someone in it.
& they say romance is dead
piece of media you feel crazy about at formative age is truly like the hotel california. you can check out but you can never leave
Wait. I want to talk about how much I love the Nancy Drew games and how they are a comfort series for me. (I can’t remember if I ever talked about the series on my blog.)
I was introduced to it by my sister playing them. We were both young and I watched her play a few games, like Secret of the Old Clock. I remember being quite scared whenever my sister went through the secret passage ways of the Lilac Inn and having a hard time on the Sewing mini game. I think she also played Danger on Deception Island, Secret of Shadow Ranch and the Creature of Kapu Cave. I really like DoD, the mystery of a orca in a gloomy coastal town isn’t as interesting as other mysteries that involve ghosts, conspiracies and murderers, but i really like it for the vibes, the funny fish politics and the fact that I can play it without being scared! (Yeah, this is my comfort series but I get very easily scared by it ha ha)
OH. I almost forgot about Ransom of the Seven Ships. That’s one I believe my sister played. That one I like too. That was all years ago. Nowadays, I can but Nancy Drew games off steam (and using a mod to fix the aspect ratio for the older games) and relive my childhood. Unfortunately, I’m still a coward so I haven’t even played all the games yet, especially the scary ones. One of my favorite game is The Final Scene. I love the old theater environment, the intense 3 day time limit before the demolition and the fact that Nancy is in 11/10 mode with trying to save her friend Maya who’s trapped in the theater. She’s more aggressive in this game and doesn’t have the patience for other people who keep her from saving her friend, it’s great.
Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake is another fun game. I like exploring the forest of moon lake. It’s scary but I was brave enough to beat the whole game and I even live streamed it with a friend on discord, that was fun. I wish I could stream more Nancy Drew with friends because sharing these weird games with people is fun.
This was a just a ramble so I’ll say one more interesting fact about these games. There’s a character in one of these games that is a younger version of my mom. Like it’s uncanny in how she looks like mom when she was in her 20s-30s.
games in order: curse of blackmoor manor (2004)
nik blahunka being the writer and voice director of what to me is the golden era of nd games but also the voice director for his own scripts is so like yeah, yeah you can gather that so well in SPY when nancy just sounds tired and burdened by her job for once, you can tell that with toni scallari’s chicago-lite accent, the way niobe laments about art and mimicking it, brenda’s abuse from her father, the way these characters face their existential crises in the middle of a tense situation. i can’t think of a character i don’t like that he’s written. he takes something that’s usually very practical (mystery fiction) and elevates it into a higher feeling of personhood rather than just solving puzzles and playing games. it’s probably why captive curse is my favorite of the entire because there’s not just the ned-nancy tension that permeates the game, there’s so much dialogue heavy interactions that it begins to feel like a much bigger piece through all their relationships.
his characters are very real, sympathetic, even in a world that isn’t entirely logical the way a lot of the player base wants it to be. the dialogue itself is the puzzle — trying to find out the truth and lies in what the characters say, faced with questioning from someone with a moral compass, the first time they really have to ever think about their actions and words or dismiss it entirely. it’s dramaturgical, it’s important to understand how these characters speak, what they say and what those words mean. nik took a very mature approach to writing and directing these characters that you can’t deny he obviously loved writing for herinteractive.
Big island Mike is a big island scammer
Yes, but, he’s scamming white people who visit Hawaii and I think that’s kind of fine tbqh
I had too much fun making this lol
Nancy Drew: Stay Tuned for Danger (1999)
One of the wallpapers from Danger by Design if anyone would like to have the same desktop as Sonny Joon.
If you could add one F-bomb in a game, which game would it be and where?
Treat it as the game is rated PG-13 and you only get one use.
Miles in Haunted Carousel: “Joy Trent is a fucking party-pooping stick in the mud.”
"Drew! I don't think you fucking understand what jail means!"
