Atlanta Bicycle Coalition
Since moving to Atlanta in 2001, I have owned a total of 8 bicycles - 3 track bikes, 2 road bikes, 1 fixed gear, 1 single speed, and 1 commuter. I have loved them all. They all represented to me a source of freedom and fun.
Atlanta unfortunately is a car-centric city. When I first started riding here, originally having learned how to ride on two wheels in San Francisco, it was challenging. The drivers rarely realized the need to share the road with others, and it made riding less appealing. Nonetheless, I have stuck it out over the 14+ years of living here, sometimes more successfully than others. I have been the unfortunate victim of a few accidents, but nonetheless, I get back up on my "horse(s)".
The Atlanta Bicycle Coalition was established in 1991, and though I didn't know much of it at first, it quickly was something that popped up on my radar. Their mission is simple... They would like to make Atlanta more attractive to ride a bicycle. This message resonates with me.
I am proud to announce that I am now part of the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition's Governing Board. I look forward to helping carry out the mission, and being a good steward of cycling in Atlanta.
Here's to a safer future full of riding!
