y'all need to relearn the word erratic and stop using schizophrenic/bipolar/psychotic as a replacement
y'all need to relearn the word particular and stop using ocd as a replacement
People need to relearn the word "egocentric" and stop using narcissist/narc as a replacement.
People need to relearn the word "impulse" and stop using "intrusive thought" as a replacement
People need to relearn the word "lying" and stop using "gaslighting" as a replacement
What's this? The red-lined bubble snail (Bullina lineata), a marine gastropod. Bizarre and beautiful, yes?
i am strange and i look like a peppermint. is that ok .
I'm really tired of people outside the UK claiming that JK Rowling's bigotry doesn't extend to trans men and non-binary people. I can't get an autism diagnosis, because I'm scared that it will be used against me to deny me the healthcare I need, as Rowling and her ilk have been spreading the rhetoric that transmascs are just confused autistic girls who are too stupid to know their own gender.
“Do Dead Malls Go to Heaven?” Process video :)
I've read about this before but I don't think I've ever added it to the #terrible space facts tag:
Enos was another of the chimpanzees NASA launched into space. He was extensively trained to perform tasks and operate switches during his flight. If he performed tasks correctly, he got a treat. If he didn't, he got a shock. Unfortunately there was a technical malfunction leading him to be shocked no matter what he did. At final count he was shocked 76 times. To NASA's surprise he persisted in carrying out his tasks, but he eventually ripped out his sensors and catheter. Not NASA's finest moment when it comes to animal cruelty. The Internet may have embraced Laika as patron saint of one way trips; perhaps we should embrace Enos as patron saint of getting unnecessarily tortured at your job.
Here in the great cosmic mistake we call western civilization, vast swaths of ppl are utterly convinced that terrible misfortune either only happened in the past or only happens in other places. This is an article of faith which supercedes the evidence of their own eyes and ears. I dunno what to do with these people. Trying to talk to them about current events that are currently eventing right in front of them is like trying to talk to a cartoon elf from a tv show for babies. They're like "[thing that was literally on the fucking news a day ago] could never, ever happen here in Happyland where bad things never happen, and talking about it makes me sad. Why do you want to make people sad? :( Nobody's sad in Happyland. :)"
Dogs serve as a kind of virtue eater for Americans to pour all of their kindness into without the risk of improving society or being nice to someone with any agency
(In a Werner Herzog voice) The perpetual references to Lassie in popular culture, an archetypal savior of the family and its children, positions the dog as an enforcer of the status quo. Beneath those watery irises is an endeavor to sequester the latent kindnesses of society into a furry, lovable vessel rather than allow individuals to direct it towards each other. Lassie is an evil, borne from our innate cowardice towards the prospect interacting with one's fellow man. Perhaps it is easier for the American to die than to reach out a hand in fellowship. Under the prevalence of canines, cruelty is a preferential morality.

in zis sense, we arr all little timmy, down hiz well
Remember when Xbox was going to basically ban used games for the xbox one, and Playstation made fun of them with that video titled "how to share games on Playstation" and it was just one guy handing another a game disk? And now Playstation is getting rid of physical disks entirely
It’s like they expect us to just forget their original marketing schemes in favor of more and more money grabs.
murderbot i love you
We were so enthralled by this leaf on our walk back from dinner last night
I think a lot of people would benefit from unlearning the idea that casual sex is inherently disgusting, harmful, or immoral just because they personally don’t want to partake in it. You can stand up for sexual safety and consent without acting like people who enjoy fucking strangers are degenerates. I take no issue with anyone asserting boundaries or stating that they’re not interested in certain kinds of sex or even sex as a whole. But when you condemn or express disgust at others for engaging in consensual sex, that’s when you start to sound like a puritan.
Btw, this includes self-proclaimed “feminists” who shame and lecture women for giving men “access” to their bodies. Bodies are not commodities and sex is not inherently transactional. You don’t lose anything by having sex on purpose with a person you find attractive. Sex is not some metaphysically transformative thing that bonds you to the other person forever. It is literally not that deep.

With hate crimes exploding in Canada in the last couple of years, Canada’s Senate has passed a bill that would criminalize more Nazis symbols, the noose and make it illegal to block people from attending places of worship. An amendment for Indigenous hatred was rejected before the final bill was approved. Sen. Nancy Karetak-Lindell is Inuk from Canada’s northern territory of Nunavut and she brought the amendment to the senate floor. She included the amendment: “making it a criminal offence to willfully promote hatred against Indigenous Peoples by condoning, denying or downplaying the Indian residential schools system.”
