Narutostucks lol
I have no idea what user handles to give any of the characters. I have a hard time just picking my own usernames. I think I'm just gonna go with their names, at least at first. I mean these are government issued devices technically so they're probably pre-named.
I've been pondering more about the setting of this crossover. I don't think I want this to be completely in the original Homestuck kids' world (AKA a world with our technology and without ninja powers) but it can't be completely in the Naruto universe (with ninja powers but without the necessary technology).
I'm thinking that it'll be in the Homestuck universe but on a "Naruto-like" planet instead of Earth as we know it. I mean, trolls have powers before playing the game so it's not really farfetched.
Obviously the timeline is going to be pretty different. The beta session has a group of people who are largely different ages in Naruto proper, and who were not really friends (loosely speaking) in the way that they would have to be to play Sburb together (do I have to think of a different name for Sburb? I mean, the trolls were Sgrub so...).
Maybe after the first shinobi world war, things went differently. Tensions have been high for the 30 or so years since then, but no actual wars have broken out. This will serve two main purposes for this AU:
First, peacetime has allowed technology to prosper and some form of basic computer (chakra powered of course) is available to chuunin and those with enough money. Second, without a war raging, our group of characters are somewhat less traumatized and broken up (only somewhat though; they're still, you know, child soldiers). Some AU events will mirror canon in order to have similar dynamics but they'll be in a different context.
Instead of elaborating further on this, I'll probably provide more exposition as it ties in with each character.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns feel free to speak up :)
@evertwisting-plot :"You could always look to Boruto as an example of the Naruto universe with technology"
I could! And I've looked on the wiki for examples of modern technology and all but... It just doesn't make sense and I'm not satisfied with the required level of suspension of disbelief. They expect me to believe they have satellites orbiting the planet?? That how cellphones and satellite dishes work!!
I've decided what tech I'm going to use for them to play the game now, I'm just figuring out how to introduce it in a natural but explanatory way.
Think I'm gonna post a snippet of writing soon actually which first talks about the tech.
[ID: The first picture is a drawing of the teenage three Sannin from Naruto in the lineless art style of Homestuck. They are all wearing godtier costumes against a light cyan background.
The second picture is teen Jiraiya from the first drawing alone. He is wearing a Mage of Space costume with his hands on his hips. The background is bright blue.
The third picture is teen Orochimaru from the first drawing alone. He is wearing a Prince of TIme costume a gesturing in front of him with one hand while the other is clenched in front of his face. The background is gold.
The fourth and last picture is teen Tsunade from the first drawing alone. She is wearing a Knight of Life costume and crossing her arms over her chest. The background is lavender. End I.D.]
This is my first public drawing lol. The background colors are the same as their text. Orochimaru had time to change his shirt to an apron thing but did not manage to get rid of the poofy pants.

Tenzou~
Godtier: Thief of Void
Age: 13
Text color is #07524c
Server to Jiraiya, served by Gai.
Land of Roots and Oasis:
-Roots is a reference to the obvious ROOT he was in, but they often represent the important things left unseen which is good for a Void player. Oasis is about the repite which he manages to find, the peace and personality he was able to keep.
I'm thinking giant ass trees mostly. The canopy is so far up and thick that only a few streams of sunlight are able to get through, the shade fits Void, and the trees have gnarled roots poking out of the ground to trip anyone not paying attention. That makes up most of his planet but there's a few places with ponds, and that means sunlight gets through to provide lush grasses. His consorts are confined to these spots because they get lost and injured quite easily in the forest. His quest is to give them more room to live. He needs to find a way to create more oases and "steal the shadows". This doubles as a symbolic quest too, he needs to create more happiness for himself and dust off the cruel instincts from his past.
Kurenai~
Godtier: Witch of Mind
Age: 15
Text color is #bf305b
Server to Itachi, served by Asuma.
Land of Vines and Tunnels:
-We have so little info about Kurenai as a person, it was really hard creating a land that would do her justice. I got vines from one of the first genjutsu we see from her and thought it would be a fitting theme for her land, branching paths and stems. The tunnels represent Mind, forming intricate networks of choices and destinations.
The surface of her world is somewhat plain. It's nice and pretty but nothing spectacular. She has to watch her steps though because there's multitudes of caves and pitfalls to fall into, many covered and matted over with vines. Her consorts rarely venture out from the underground but every now and then she catches one out of the corner of her eye. As she ventures further and further into the peculiar tunnels, lit dimly with glowing moss of some sort and marked with unfamiliar indents and protrusions, she realizes that she still can't reach any of the inhabitants; every time she approaches one, it scampers away down paths it clearly knows better than her. Kurenai must figure out how to either change the consorts' minds towards her, change the consorts' escape routes, or change the tunnels themselves- any choice will lead her to new rooms in this subterraneous structure and, eventually, to her denizen.
Asuma~
Godtier: Seer of Breath
Age: 15
Text color is #42c9b5
Server to Kurenai, served by Anko.
Land of Fire and Future:
-I was thinking about smoke for a while, for Breath and his smoking, but I felt that fire is better, as it produces smoke and the "will of fire" and all that. Future is part reference to his and his daughter's names (Asuma=true tomorrow, Mirai=future), and part reference to him being a seer. I also like the alliteration…
His world is kind of sparse, it's a lot of prairie, but there's a couple groups of shorter trees here and there. It's generally rather dark there, but never pitch black because giant bonfires provide light and warmth across the planet. The consorts wander back and forth between the fires and the trees, generally content- until it rains. As it turns out, all the smoke from the fires has been gathering in the clouds, and now all the waters are dirty and polluted. It rains fairly frequently, every other day maybe, but it's light rain; it's not enough to put the fires out. The consorts are concerned that the vegetation is going to completely die out, they said that there used to be much more variety on this world. Asuma doesn't understand what he is supposed to do at first, but things are pretty chill so he just takes his time and explores and talks to the consorts. Eventually, he is able to connect to the consorts and give them advice on their personal problems and, as a result of hanging around with them, ends up sorta accidentally discovering that the smoke from the fires gives hints about understanding his title, while he's already doing what he's supposed to.
Kakashi~
Godtier: Knight of Doom
Age: 14
Text color is #ed81ae
Server to Gai, served by Iruka.
Land of Stones and Lightning:
Stones has 3x symbolism: the significance of the memorial stone to him, the metaphor of carrying the heavy weight of his burdens, and the cave-in with Obito. Lightning is the obvious choice but also signifies Doom, the suffering of collapse striking at any time.
His land is fairly barren, except for the boulders piled up everywhere you look. The other thing that stands out are the lightning rods posted frequently on particularly high rock piles. His world is very dry, but constantly storming with thunder cracks and lightning strikes every minute or so. He's relieved there's no rain. His consorts have little camps in the spaces guarded by boulder walls. They speak often about their fear of leaving the safety of the stones only to get struck by a stray bolt the rods missed, but they also speak of their fear of constant rockslides. Strengthened by his power as someone who creates catastrophe, his quest is designed to push him towards increasing the storm's power, tearing through the rocks and rods alike. After the ensuing calamity has died down, he finds that the lightning has stopped touching down at all and crackles within the clouds instead. This symbolizes how he has to actually do something about his issues, and how you have to accept that sometimes sacrifices have to be made in order to progress.
Tsunade~
Godtier: Heir of Life
Age: 16
Text color is #aa95b4
Server to Orochimaru, served by Jiraiya.
Land of Herbs and Obsidian:
-I knew I wanted something about crystals partly because of her necklace and partly because people use them for healing. Obsidian is a healing gem that's very strong but also very brittle depending on where it's struck. I thought about what an obsidian planet would need to sustain life and how Tsunade would interact with it. Herbs fit the bill while being healing (and poison) related.
Her world is dark and mountainous with a few deep ravines that glow with lava at their nadir. Jagged obsidian points draw the eye to the dark night sky, clouded from ash. Despite being so ominous, life finds a way: there's patches of dirt every now and then sprouting new life. The soil is incredibly fertile due to the nutrient filled ash and the green grows so fast it seems to spread right as you're looking at it. There's a couple communities of consorts she can find, some are built near ravines and some are built near the plants. If she stays long enough in either community, she'll see what the problem is. Some of the consorts believe the spreading herbs only serve to do them harm so they raise any patches they find, the other consorts guard the dirt with their lives… but they have many mysterious deaths to account for. Tsunade must learn to protect the herbs but also protect the consorts from the herbs and from each other. Part mediation and part learning to heal effectively.
Orochimaru~
Godtier: Prince of Time
Age: 16
Text color is #ded224
Server to Anko, served by Tsunade.
Land of Snakes and Sound:
-sound is obviously a reference to Oto, but it also connects to the Time aspect with beats as seconds. Snakes is snakes. That's just his thing. Maybe it's lacking creativity but I think it works as a land just fine.
His land is in perpetual dawn, right before the sun peaks over the horizon but as the sky is lit up orange. The geography is somewhat swampy but nothing of note. The most important feature of this land is the noise: there's a constant chiming throughout. It's not an unpleasant sound and it's not deafening, but it's rather annoying after a while and it's loud enough that conversations are half-shouted. It annoys his consorts, the snakes, so his quest is basically to wait it out until he's powerful enough to locate and destroy whatever is making the sound. Sounds dull, but patience is important to all Time players and as someone who destroys their aspect he's gonna have a harder time with it.
Jiraiya~
Godtier: Mage of Space
Age: 16
Text color is #3279d3
Server to Tsunade, served by Tenzo.
Land of Code and Frogs:
-as a space player his second is gonna be frogs so that's aspect covered. I think his role as a spymaster does really fit him, and as a Mage he's predispositioned digesting information anyway. Not 100% certain on Code, but something along the spy/information gathering line.
I imagine the land is overcast, with rolling hills and sparse trees, a few ponds here and there, a couple boulders, etc. Rather scenic with a slight breeze, it has lots of nooks and crannies, and the consorts live in hobbit-like houses. Many people are jealous he got such a nice planet because theirs are wild. There's ciphers hidden throughout the land for his quest: the frogs live in the cracks and caves in the hills, too far down for anyone to reach, and he has to gain the knowledge and power to widen the cracks in a way that isn't going to harm the frogs. His main issue is probably gonna be focus ngl.
Was gonna make a post details the lands of the players but I got a little too descriptive and that'd be a ridiculously long post, so instead I'm gonna do character bios. I'll do them with what information I have figured out and edit it later if I think of more.
Posts will be tagged narutostuck, narutobent au, and with any characters involved.
I'm not as experienced with lands as I am with classpecting so I'm hoping this stuff sounds as clever as it does in my head. I'm not picking consorts or denizens because we seriously do not have enough information about them. I'm picking text colors but not shirt designs because that's not really gonna matter without a visual medium, maybe later.
Okay rough plot for the beta session:
I've decided that the adults are actually the betas. Their session sucked really bad because of constant infighting. Tsunade was the default "leader" because no one else was gonna and she was at least trying to win instead of whatever the others were doing. Leader is in quotation marks because it was really anyone's guess whether they'd listen to her. When it became clear that they weren't gonna win, she decided to scratch. Obviously none of them wanted to die but Orochimaru specifically refused to let her scratch unless there was a way he lived through it. After a lot of arguing and possibly violence, they came up with a compromise and a risky plan: Orochimaru would use his abilities as a Prince of Time to rupture the timeline around them, effectively stranding them into the Furthest Ring. Tsunade would then use her abilities as a Knight of Life to keep an atmosphere and to guard them all (Orochimaru didn't care about the rest of them but she and Jiraiya insisted) from the terrors. Jiraiya, as a Mage of Space, would use his abilities to see the next session's location and guide them through the nothingness. Surprisingly enough, the session is scratched and they're all alive. Now commences a roadtrip of indeterminate length with a dozen people who aren't very friendly towards each other. [Shenanigans ensue]
I'm thinking by the time they're in the Ring, the godtiers are: Jiraiya, Orochimaru, Tsunade, Kakashi, Itachi, and Obito.
I'm debating how to age them. Sburb is a coming of age game so they're not actually adults though I call them that for clarity's sake. I guess they don't all actually have to be the exact same age, as in Homestuck proper everyone was months apart and the alpha kids were older when they started. I'm thinking either all 15, or a variety of ages from 17 (the sannin since they're the oldest) to 12 (Itachi is the youngest).
I almost want to start writing an actual fic but I'm not doing it unless I figure out how to make colored chat logs because I feel like they're essential to what I have in mind.
Speaking of Narutostuck, what classpect do you think Madara and Kabuto would fall into? I feel like Void aspect would fit Kabuto very well, maybe Heir of Void given his background. Madara, I'm drawing a bit of a blank on. I love the classpects you've made so far by the way, they're very nice!
Hmm for Kabuto I'm thinking you're either right with Void, or my other thought is Life actually. Void would fit well with all his secrets and hidden info he keeps, but Life would work with his need to be better and keep growing along with his skill in healing.
My first guess would be Thief of Life. Thieves are pretty self-serving and scheming which would account for the secrets and info-gathering and Life accounts for his desire to keep getting stronger and change who he is. (And I like the symbolism of him used healing techniques to steal lives). My second guess would be Heir of Void, Heirs are a changing class that tend to become vessels for their aspect, allowing it to guide them. So as an Heir of Void he would seek to change secrets and misinformation while staying on the sidelines and the shadows. That one rings true especially for his identity crisis- his own past is a secret so *he* is a secret.
Madara is a harder one yeah, but now that I'm thinking about it, he seems very focused on his relationships. His family, his clan, with Hashirama, with the village. So I think Blood is a good fit. I'm not gonna lie, I didn't pay as much attention to his generation so if my details are wrong or lacking, my bad.
Now as I was thinking about classes, none of them really stood out to me but I was still leaning towards Blood and when that happens I usually start thinking about inversion. So maybe Breath would fit him better. A Prince of Breath perhaps? Someone who destroys freedoms and drive? His bonds were very important to him, maybe he made sure Izuna was alright by limiting his freedom, where he could go and when he could fight. His choice to accept Hashirama's idea of Konoha was maybe the ultimate move to limit his clans freedom. All Uchiha afterwards were confined to a certain sector of Konoha.
Thank you so much! I honestly didn't think anyone would even see that post so I'm super glad you enjoyed it, and I'm glad I had an excuse to keep thinking about character's aspects 😅
