Important to remember
God I hate the rich
OK BUT WHY DOES HIS REFLECTION LOOK LIKE LOKI
Well, I guess thatâs worth a look.
Well then.
âCultural appropriation is not simply the act of taking something away from a people, it is also using something in a way that is inappropriate, disrespectful, or distorted. How easy it is for a well-meaning outsider to interpret what he has seen and experienced, and in the process, misrepresent the knowledge and worldview of Indigenous people. How easy it is to study a ceremony, story, or area of knowledge out of its context, employing Western critical paradigms and values. In doing so one creates a profound distortion of its original meaning. In this way, after five hundred years of misunderstanding, the First People continue to suffer the denigration of their most sacred practices and the disruption of their ways of life.â

bonus:
Just to remind everyone thereâs a character in Twilight whoâs native, living on a reservation, and is the leader of a pack of ânoble werewolves.â At one point in a blind rage he turns into a wolf and mutilates his wife. They remain married and this serves as a lesson that we can hurt the ones we love.
First Nations women are physically abused at disproportionately high rates in the United States. Where in hell did any editor get off in allowing this to be a core character and a core scene in a YA book.
Trail of Lightning (The Sixth World) (2018)
While most of the world has drowned beneath the sudden rising waters of a climate apocalypse, DinĂŠtah (formerly the Navajo reservation) has been reborn. The gods and heroes of legend walk the land, but so do monsters.
Maggie Hoskie is a DinĂŠtah monster hunter, a supernaturally gifted killer. When a small town needs help finding a missing girl, Maggie is their last best hope. But what Maggie uncovers about the monster is much more terrifying than anything she could imagine.
Maggie reluctantly enlists the aid of Kai Arviso, an unconventional medicine man, and together they travel the rez, unraveling clues from ancient legends, trading favors with tricksters, and battling dark witchcraft in a patchwork world of deteriorating technology.
As Maggie discovers the truth behind the killings, she will have to confront her past if she wants to survive.
Welcome to the Sixth World.

Unpopular opinion but even if indigenous communities had 100% access to other food sources, they should still be able to continue with their traditional and sustainable hunting practices.
Indigenous people shouldnât be expected to abandon their culturesâ traditions just because outsiders have decided that those traditions are âwrongâ or that thereâs better options.
Racism is a hell of a drug. Poor & working class whites have always blamed minorities for their ills but this year it's clear that rich whites are the ones fucking them over. Besides the college admission thing this year it was also revealed that the opioid epidemic they blamed Mexicans for was engineered by the rich Sackler family(owners of Perdue Pharma). LBJ was right, "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket"
Yup. Maaan did you see how they reacted when AOC talked about Reagan turning the white working class against the black working class. Youâd thought she killed their grandma or something.

âThe problem is that white people see racism as conscious hate, when racism is bigger than that. Racism is a complex system of social and political levers and pulleys set up generations ago to continue working on the behalf of whites at other peopleâs expense, whether whites know/like it or not. Racism is an insidious cultural disease. It is so insidious that it doesnât care if you are a white person who likes black people; itâs still going to find a way to infect how you deal with people who donât look like you. Yes, racism looks like hate, but hate is just one manifestation. Privilege is another. Access is another. Ignorance is another. Apathy is another. And so on. So while I agree with people who say no one is born racist, it remains a powerful system that weâre immediately born into. Itâs like being born into air: you take it in as soon as you breathe. Itâs not a cold that you can get over. There is no anti-racist certification class. Itâs a set of socioeconomic traps and cultural values that are fired up every time we interact with the world. It is a thing you have to keep scooping out of the boat of your life to keep from drowning in it. I know itâs hard work, but itâs the price you pay for owning everything.â
