ironically,  considering  what  she  does,  summer  doesn't  like  mess.   she  established  a  rule  within  the  diner  that  any  altercations  and  general  violence  are  to  be  held  outside,  in  the  alley,  for  all  she  cares.   just  nowhere  she  has  to  be  responsible  for.   she  doesn't  bury  bodies  for  strangers.

her  main  focus  is  to  do  her  job  and  look  after  the  place,  occasionally  perform  pick  ups  and  arrange  drop  offs  for  certain  goods,  but  her  interest  lies  in  the  clinic.   trouble  is  few  and  far  between,  at  least  it  should  be  for  a  place  like  this,  where  no  one's  invited  trouble  in.   but  today  is  different.   today  might  as  well  be  a  test.

she's  pouring  coffee  for  a  regular  when  she  sees  him.   someone  at  a  booth  with  their  eye  on  one  of  her  customers.   this  can  only  mean  trouble.   she's  seen  this  scene  before.   she  takes  a  deep  breath  and  brings  the  pitcher  of  coffee  to  his  table.

“   hey  there,  need  a  refill?   ”   a  bright  smile  lights  her  features,  pretending  to  be  unassuming.

just popping in to say hi! i haven't forgotten about summer, there just isn't much for me to do here at this time and i plan to rewrite her bio. i'm off school for a week starting monday so i will be relishing this time to write. love you all <33

oh no. the telling glance towards his side (really, he thought he was doing a better job at hiding it) tells him he's been rumbled. within a second, his smile turns sheepish, his free hand rubbing at the back of his neck as he begins to follow summer in the direction of her office.

"ummm—" a drawn out sound, broken only by his efforts to suppress a wince as the movement triggers pain, almost as sharp as the blade that caused it. "well, that also depends," he mimics, his attempt at being endearing, "am i someone you care about? 'cause i, um, i may have, you know, heroically stumbled into the path of a knife. which is to say! i have maybe kind of been stabbed. just a little bit."

summer  cares  for  people  in  what  most  would  say  a  troublesome  manner.   but  she  continues  to  walk  him  over  to  her  office  anyway  and  grabs  the  key  from  her  belt  loop.   it's  one  of  the  ways  she  attracts  trouble,  helping  a  boy  who's  up  to  what  can  only  be  assumed  as  no  good  with  no  real  answers  to  give  her.   but  she  likes  the  kid,  his  presence.   she  likes  being  needed,  too.

“   'course  you're  someone  i  care  about,   ”   she  answers  without  a  beat,  full  honesty.   she  gives  him  a  smile  as  she  opens  the  office  door  and  reveals  the  usual  set-up :   a  stolen  hospital  bed  covered  with  a  white  paper  sheet.   “   just  a  little  bit,  huh?   what  is  it  this  time?   ”

here to write, sort of. i'll probably rewrite summer's biography at some point this week because... i hate reading it. will also probably tweak olympia's rules. but we're here.

"summer—" he comes up to the counter of blackjack diner, his usual smile worn brightly on his face, though it's a little fragile. his hand is pressed hard against his side, digging into the fabric of his hoodie.

"um, if someone told you they had been stabbed, would you be mad at them?"

her  glance  raises  toward  him  when  he  calls  her  name.   a  smile  appears  across  her  features  naturally  as  he  approaches  the  counter  before  focusing  on  his  words.   stabbed?   her  glance  lowers  and  sees  how  he's  pressing  his  hand  into  his  side.   she  supposes  it's  not  unusual,  but  she  has  told  him  to  stay  out  of  trouble.

brows  raise,  head  tilts  sideways  in  this  oh  so  motherly  way.   “   well,  that  depends,   ”   she  pauses,  already  heading  away  from  the  counter  and  tilting  her  head  toward  the  direction  of  her  office.   “   is  it  someone  i  care  about?   ”
