just letting everyone know this post has been cooking for 7 years and it'll finally post in 2028
its so old that when i click edit the corners of the boxes are still sharp
there are no POssibLe Legal waYs to play MineCraft for free. this, of course, does not matter, because there is no way Microsoft could be AN ACTIVE AND IMPORTANT COLLABORATOR IN THE ONGOING GENOCIDE AGAINST THE PEOPLE OF PALESTINE BY THE STATE OF ISRAEL
Prismlauncher is the newer and cooler fork of polymc. Part of the development team split off after I believe some queerphobia within the old team.
Also the logo is a cool rainbow.

Snake-in-the-Box-Problem [Explained]
Transcript
[A panel with text both above and below the illustration, with further text outside the panel below.] [In the panel, above the illustration:] A snake slithers around a hypercube. No two non-consecutive parts of its coils can be on adjacent corners. [Three small illustrations of 4-dimensional hypercubes, each with a snake slithering around its edges. Each illustration has a red line or lines indicating an edge or edges where two non-consecutive parts of the snake are on adjacent corners. Below each hypercube is a red X.] [A large illustration depicting a 4-dimensional hypercube with a snake slithering around its edges.] [Below the large illustration is text printed in green. To the left of the text is a green checkmark.] Dimensions=4 Max length=7 [The following text is printed in black, except for the last word "UNSOLVED" which is printed in red:] Snake(N) = Largest snake that can fit in an N-dimensional hypercube Snake(N=1, 2, 3 .. 8) = 1, 2, 4, 7, 13, 26, 50, 98 Snake(N>8) = UNSOLVED
[Text outside the panel:] It turns out every scientific field has a key thought experiment that involves putting a cute animal in a weird box for no reason. So far, quantum mechanics and graph theory have found theirs, but most other fields are still working on it.
Combinatorics has the pigeonhole principle!
I love uninstalling shit. Get out of my computer.

ah fuck im imagining it
to recap these past few days: i put arch on my laptop after deciding i wanted a more hands-on distro to properly learn how to do things (so far the biggest achievement is getting used to the arch wiki :3 seems like it's gonna be helpful)
i wanted a simple floating window manager but i wasn't able to get wayfire working so i'm on hyprland now. i'm not that big of a fan of tiling but i might get used to it. or i might get wayfire working who knows
once i feel like i've set things up nicely i might just ditch the idea and go back to GNOME. if only that stupid bug about maximized windows shooting off to the side once you unmaximize them gets fixed
I love hearing about other people learning to use the Arch wiki! I’m a fellow Arch user myself, so I’m happy to see others choosing this distro
In terms of window managers, I use Niri. It’s a cool scrolling (tiling but like they keep going side to side and you can scroll down the chain) WM, and I think PaperWM is similar but GNOME-based? Maybe try one of those out if you want to experiment with new paradigms or workflows
GNOME, as with all software, is sometimes buggy and problematic. Got to be my least favorite mainstream Linux project /hj (it’s a cool DE, and maybe amazing for touch/mobile systems, but it feels too similar to the Apple/non-user-controlled world I was fleeing with my switch to Linux
the wiki is sooo good, i've used it before (like when i had to figure out how fstab works hehe) but now that i had to get used to it im getting to see how good it *actually* is!
thanks for the suggestions! i'm not looking to switch to anything just yet (don't want to get myself into too many things at once), but i might check them out in the future ^^
i get what everyone is saying about gnome not letting you do what you want but its honestly so close to what i'd ideally want that it doesn't really bother me. it's just that one bug + no theming options that bother me
