The silver tongue meets the private eye - RP

Continuation of X
Noir took the goober and looked it over for any damage. Of course, he wouldnât really know if there was any damage until he tested it out, but it wasnât sparking, smoking, or showing âERRORâ on the little screen, so that was the extent of his knowledge satisfied.Â
He was about to leave, when the question made him pause. A glance at the goober said he had a good ten hours before he would start glitching, so, provided it wasnât broken, he had plenty of time to answer the strangerâs question.Â
âThatâs because Iâm not common to these parts.â He responded, his coat flaring dramatically behind him as he turned to face the other man. âFolks in my own universe call me Spider-man. Since this isnât my universe, you can call me Noir. Helps to avoid confusion, seeing as this universe has a Spider-man already.â Â

âGee, thanks.â Noir retorted, not really as offended as he sounded. He knew his body wasnât the most comfortable, probably more so for someone who hadnât had time to get used to it. âYour body ainât exactly the bees knees either, pally.â Â

Wrong Dimension - RP
Noir relaxed a little when he realized that the noise had just been a civilian. The monochrome detective was very much a city boy, so he had been worried for a second that he might have to fight a bear or something. Not that a civilian couldnât cause damage if they were panicked enough, but this guy didnât have a gun on on him, and he didnât exactly look like a fighter.Â
As the man approached Noir, an unusual breeze picked up, blowing the detectiveâs long trench coat dramatically and, incidentally, drying it for him. This was such a normal occurrence for Noir, he hardly noticed it, and since he didnât know anything about this forest, he didnât even think to wonder how to other man might take it.Â
The other man looked so scared, Noir actually felt kind of sorry for him. Sure, scary was the look he generally went for, or at least âmysteriousâ, but he only wanted that reaction from criminals, not civilians. Was a monochrome man standing out on a dock in the middle of the night really that scary a sight?Â
âYeah, that was me. I got dumped in the lake while trying to get home.â Noir explained, trying to be polite in order to calm the other man down. No need to give some poor stranger a heart attack. âCan you tell me where I am? I know Iâm off target, but Iâve never been this off target before.â Â

Noir was busy staring down at his own hands, turning them this way. He knew they werenât actually his - even besides the color, they lacked the scars his own hands sported - but just for a moment, he could imagine...Â
âIâd say getting thrown into another world and getting our bodies âglitchedâ was weirder, but maybe thatâs just me.â He commented. It sounded weird, he talked normally but it come out in Peter B.âs higher tones. âWait, weâre not going to start glitching, are we?â Â
Wrong Dimension - RP
@campkeeper
The silence around the lake was broken by a loud crackling sound, and a white portal opened in the air just long enough to spit a man out into the water before disappearing again.Â
When Noir had activated the goober that was supposed to send him home, he hadnât expected to wind up experiencing sudden submersion in cold water. It shocked him so much that he almost forgot how to swim. He only remembered to claw his way to surface when his lungs started screaming at him.Â
Swimming with a full-length trench coat on is no easy feat, but Noir managed to pull it off. As he hauled himself up onto the thin, wooden dock, though, he couldnât help but look around in confusion. Where the heck was he? Not his own dimension, the great variety of colors around him made that abundantly clear, but... it also didnât look like Milesâ universe, or any of the others he had visited. It was hard to explain, but things looked... different. And not just because he appeared to be in the middle of a forest instead of a city.Â
A noise in the trees made him whirl around, reaching for the holster of his gun. It was empty, though, and he belatedly recalled that Milesâ Aunt May had made him promise to leave his gun behind while visiting her dimension. Damn.Â
after finding out what the hell an egg cream was, this scene immediately came to mind (x)
