This is the most bizarre underwater world in Austria (western Europe). It is complicity different from other Nature gifts. Yes the winter time takes up almost half of the year, the lake is almost completely dry and people use it as a park. However, during the spring, when the temperature rises and the snow melts from the surrounding mountains, the basin of land below the mountains fills with water. Each and every year 12m of water appear with the rising temperatures.
and if i said nolan's odyssey starring no greek actors and with no recognizable aspects of greek culture or involvement by greeks, is the direct legacy of white supremacist colonialism that treated ancient greece as not just the pinnacle of ancient culture, but of an artificially created "european" culture, which white western europeans and their settler descendants, as the new pinnacle of culture, were the sole spiritual inheritors of.
^^^ PEOPLE ARE STILL THERE. There's a metro station across the street from the colosseum where i found a hair in my pizza slice. We drove by ruins of an amphitheater next to a motorway in greece once. It's literally just real places where real people live and have lived. It's not mythical perfect lands that once existed. I went to Itacha in 2023 and there was not enough parking space.
Finally a take on the 2026 Odyssey that isnโt focused on โtrans people in movie = pushing woke agendaโ
goddd it's been so hard disliking this production for Normal People Reasons basically since it was announced, and seeing people constantly hating it for bullshit reasons. like no I do not have a problem with Elliot Page or Lupita Nyong'o in this movie beyond the fact that they are hollywood a-listers like Everyone Else In The Cast.

I'm struggling to breathe right now in my own home because of the wildfire smoke plume. I set up a "clean room" following instructions from the EPA and that's the only place I can be right now. Even running to the kitchen or the bathroom makes my chest feel tight, my eyes burn, and my head start to hurt. And our politicians are approving MORE oil pipelines and data centers while this is happening. I can only hope that our collective outrage can empower us to make a change.
Here is the link for instructions on how to make a "clean room" from the EPA if you are in an area affected by wildfire smoke:
If there is an active wildfire in your area, local authorities may advise you to shelter in place rather than evacuate. Learn the benefits o

"Oh yeah, we have an outdoor Corgi, he just gets so bored cooped up inside all day. He knows to stay off the road. Don't worry, he's way too smart for coyotes and the neighbor's know to look out when they drive past."
"Us? Oh, of *course* our Dachshund sleeps inside- we just let him out in the morning and make sure he comes back for dinner. He just does his own thing, no worries."
"Um, you know it's not humane to keep a chihuahua confined to an apartment? They're dogs, they're natural predators. They need to experience hunting behaviors or they get depressed. No we don't leash ours, he absolutely hates it, we just let him come and go whenever."
Yall get how fucking stupid that sounds, right? So stop letting your goddamn cats get eaten and attacked and infected and hit by cars
A toddler would probably love full unattended access to the neighborhood too, but we don't do that either, do we
It's 2026, "keep your damn pet in a house or in your view" should not be controversial
I had to go on a hunt for this but it was worth it. 100% agree
Now that everyone is discussing Nolan's Odyssey movie, I feel like it's a good time to let non-Italians know that the production dumped plastic props into the Italian sea. Weirdly enough I could not find any article in English about it but it's a fucking problem nonetheless.
I might translate this article later today. This one was the most complete one, even in Italian news it's not talked about that much.

They dumped plastic skeletons in environmentally protected areas, against the literal contracts they had to sign to get the permits to film in environmentally protected areas. Like they not only did a bad ecological thing that freaked out some divers, they literally broke environmental protection laws and their contract with the Italian government
They also filmed in illegally occupied territories in western sahara
