HotD season 3 spoilers below the cut
Helaena is pregnant isn't she? Her refusing to let Alicent tie the robe and Alicent's reaction to it...
Now the question I have is how long it's been since Helaena and Aegon could've feasibly concieved, given his injuries after Rook's Rest. Is it his child?
If anyone knows how long it's been (in universe) since Rook's Rest please let me know!
Aegon said so and he sounded like he wanted it to be true okay?
I really hope they weren't just teasing us and that we'll see Sunfyre somehow return for book spoiler reasons. And he wasn't rotting like Meleys! There's still a chance!
Like and subscribe if Daeron Targaryen (Hightower?) is your babygirl
daemon “well she’s my wife” and mysaria “well she trusts me more than you” going back and forth until alicent gets brought up and both their dumbasses just gotta sit there like this because she still tops overall
Diva down, rest in peace Simon Strong.
Am I the only one who really enjoyed both season 1 and 2 of HotD by the way? Sure, it has some odd scenes here and there, however I don't consider them to be all that bad?? Maybe it's because I haven't read Fire and Blood and am therefore immune to inaccuracy frustrations, who knows.
For me the strangest decision in the show would be Rhaenyra going to KL to negotiate with Alicent. That was a bit strange and honestly difficult to imagine Rhaenyra doing, given how dangerous it was. I did appreciate the mirroring of Alicent going to Dragonstone, however.
No thoughts on Sheepstealer because again, I haven't read the book. I do understand why that change is frustrating for readers so don't get me wrong, that might've ticked me off had I been one of you guys. That being said, an adaptation is an adaptation and I do welcome new and different takes on Martin's works; creativity flows best when we reimagine tales and dare take some creative liberties, like with translations and subtitles. Sometimes you may feel a story is less cohesive as it stands. I imagine they changed Sheepstealer's rider to make the show easier to follow for a wider audience, given how big and oftentimes confusing the cast is.
Guys I'm starting to think rhaenicent yuri isn't happening
Yeah sure whatever you say Pinterest fuck it top five most peggable men
Just realized something about the R+L=J reveal in the show (the one vision that specifically legitimizes Jon, for some reason they pulled this stunt like 3 times)
So the showmakers completely fail to portray the darker implications of Rhaegar's actions right, he causes unrest that splits the realm into civil war and is naive enough to leave his actual family behind*, trusting other randos to look after them in case anything goes wrong, just so he can assault a 16 year old girl for the sake of prophecy (because let's face it, regardless of what he told Lyanna there was no way she could have given informed consent (also she was 16 and he was the prince and heir to the throne, she never really had much of a choice))
Not only do they not give a shit about showing supposed sweet kind prince Rhaegar's conscience (he should be tormented by what he's done, but hey what do I know) but they also show Lyanna's completely fine with all of this?????? Even disregarding what I mentioned before about informed consent, their age difference and the power dynamics between them, was the show suggesting Lyanna simply did not give a fuck about her family? Regardless of when this "elopement" takes place, Lyanna would at least have known something would happen in response to this. Obviously her brother Brandon would demand justice if he believed she had been abducted, right? So would her father. With a lunatic on the throne this could only lead to disaster. If she was willing, as the show suggests, why didn't she contact her family to assure them she was safe? This question can be answered by Rhaegar denying her this, but if that's the case then the fairy tale happy elopement shown to us is complete and utter bs even in universe. Either Lyanna didn't care to settle the matter, or the show is contradicting itself.
Another alternative is that Rhaegar and Lyanna married AFTER Rickard and Brandon were murdered by the Mad King, which. Yeah. I think you can see where the issue lies there.
It's certainly not the biggest flaw of the later seasons, but it is astounding how little thought they put into the implications a happy ending has in their case.
Btw for hyping this reveal up they sure don't care to really show us what exactly went down. We get one scene, that's it. Probably because of the issues I already mentioned. Whole thing is broken.
*Originally wrote they were in KL, which they supposedly weren't. Fixed in editing
"Fallen" by Dirt Poor Robins is such a Cersei song btw, perfectly captures the chaotic unravelling and the foreboding dread we get in her POV chapters, as well as her character in general
"Her longing to blister
Burn all who resist her
Dragging them down, down, down to her hell"
I mean come on is that not exactly where her arc has been going and will continue to lead? Especially with a couple of her wildfire interactions setting her up to do some reckless shit with it
And you could of course interpret having "fallen" in so many ways in regards to Cersei
"Her kingdom comes
On the backs of the ones she once loved"
Cersei and Jaime falling apart. Need I say more? With how things are going she's probably going to completely discard Jaime in the future and mock all he stands for. It's going to be devastating for Jaime to be reminded of Aerys and feel sickened by what she has become (assuming they meet again, which I think they will)
Finally, to drag everyone "down to her hell" is a spot on description of Cersei's attitude toward others
1. Wake up
2. Recall just how badly D&D botched Daenerys' entire character and storyline, characterizing her as an entitled, whiny and emotional brat rather than the savvy political player she is in the books and how they glamorized the abusive men around her (Drogo, Jorah)
3. Seethe
Something that might be interesting for the books is a potential encounter between Daenerys and Stannis, as well as who might remained opposed to House Targaryen in House Lannister. Haven't heard a great deal about this one actually. Now as things stand it's unlikely Tyrion's moving camp...for now.
But what about Stannis Baratheon?
More below
Have y'all ever imagined how tense it must have been between Jaime and Tyrion fter what happened with Tysha? Because it hurts my heart genuinely. How they rebuilt after this betrayal is beyond me. What Jaime claimed to have done is still a stab in the back right, to Tyrion it must have seemed Jaime either ran Tywin's cruel errands or was too gullible to see what pain he would cause. In any case that is one blow to recover from. How many times must Tyrion not silently have repeated his own "and Moonboy for all I know" line? "She was just a whore", "It was me, I set it all up" etc. Damn.
Shoutout to the hero at Worldcon who spoke some facts straight to GRRM's face, hope George takes some time to think about what to do with his series and stop keeping it in permanent whining limbo
Like sorry but 14 almost 15 years is completely unacceptable for someone who claims to still be working on his books and who promises to deliver, I don't understand how people keep coddling him and making excuses and saying he "doesn't owe anyone a book" yeah then quit GRRM? If you don't want to do it just quit, stop breadcrumbing us with nothing burger updates if that's truly how you feel
No sympathy for GRRM when he whines about being pressured. A whole generation of teens has been conceived, born and grown into ninth graders since the last book, finish the series or tell us you won't do it and stop wasting everyone's time
And I know people find it rude to point out his age but come on, he's been overweight for years probably developing high cholestrol and other health issues and at an age where people healthier than him have died, it's a genuine concern
If you think about it Gendo Ikari and Tywin Lannister have a surprisingly similar trauma surrounding women and their son(s)
