morty it’s not too late for you transition into a girl and abandon your family
idk if anyone has said this before but rick replacing himself with a robot to look after morty while he hunted prime is very similar to beth wanting to clone herself so she could explore the cosmos without technically abandoning her kids
tfw you see a beautifully thought-out piece of fanart mischaracterize your fav in the most insidious way possible
lawyer morty is so hilarious to me in concept imagine being friends with five evil villains and you just have to sit there as they evil laugh and evil scheme and govern their evil society evilly
Morticia mini comic 💘💘
seeking advice (1 of 2)
sometimes you just have to be happy with what you have
I 😭 LOVE 😭 BETH 😭 SANCHEZ 😭
everything rick did his daughter did it better
it really does annoy me deeply when people make really detailed headcanons about rick’s place on the spectrum of sociopathy/psychopathy while essentially dumbing beth down into “she’s just crazy for no reason haha” in the same breath…like omg can’t a girl want to kill things she views as inherently weak (small animals, Kids With Loving Fathers, herself that one time, etc.) in order to establish some semblance of connection with her emotionally abusive father whilst also using these mini murder sprees as a means to assert control and uplift her into a faux position of power that the nature of said relationship with her father fully denies her without it being a whole Thing 😒
Which could mean nothing...
imagine waking up everyday and making the conscious choice to torture you grandson when this is the grandson in question
soo sad i’m using a sideblog for my rick and morty stuff there’s so many talented people i wanna follow. but i have to be mysterious….
CW: grooming, abuse
I saw some other posts related to this on Twitter, but my account on there is private and not really meant for fandom interaction, so I'm just gonna say my piece here. Rick literally groomed Morty and the entire Smith family into accepting and overlooking his abuse. I don't know if this is a controversial take on Tumblr or not. It's what I see on the screen and this is coming from someone who hates Rickorty as a ship.
I had a hard time figuring out how to word this thought previously, because it seems if you use the word "grooming" instead of "manipulation", people will accuse you of making things up, or use some other excuse to minimize Rick's wrongdoing. Because anyone who hears the word "grooming" assumes that it MUST mean that someone in the equation is being accused of sexual abuse and therefore pedophilia (nevermind the fact that sexual attraction does not need to be present in order for sexual abuse to take place), when in reality it just describes using a power imbalance to one's advantage in order to ease a more vulnerable person into allowing the exploitation of themselves and others, whether it be financial, emotional, or sexual. A definition that can help victims of all kinds of abuse more accurately identify what happened to them, and understand why their family/social circles failed to prevent it.
The best example I can think of for nonsexual grooming is the relationship between Azula and her father in Avatar: The Last Airbender. The fact that Azula was groomed by Ozai into acting the way she did is common knowledge in that fandom, and often referenced when breaking down Azula's motivations and insecurities. It's unfortunate that regular fans of Rick and Morty have gotten so afraid of being mistaken for Rickorty shippers that they can't have frank discussions about these things without that worry looming over them.
Also, this isn't me policing Rick fans in any way! He's an interesting character and I like him for it too. I'm only pointing out that a lot of his manipulative actions towards Morty and the family would probably be considered some form of grooming in real life because I feel like ignoring it means missing out on good character analysis. Morty is a relatable character in many ways but this is the main reason I latched onto him so hard as another victim of grooming when I was in my early teens. I can't help but wonder how many other non-Rickortys feel the same and are just afraid to say it.
